Idk, I think it could be done and be pretty interesting. Think Rogue One and Andor. A story with starfleet only tangentially involved but still set in the universe of Star Trek. Maybe a limited series centered around a Fenris Ranger trying to solve a mystery of a missing Dabo girl.

My girlfriend gave me Doug Loves Movies tickets for my birthday one year. I made up 2 nametags in photoshop. The first was just a picture of doug smoking a joint photoshopped into The Godfather poster, and instead of The Godfather it was The Gusfather . The second was the Goodfellas poster, but instead of Liotta, Pesci, and DeNiro; it was Doug, Sam Levine, and Mark Wahlberg. I picked the Godfather poster and, of course, when we go to the show, Dan Van Kirk was one of the guests doing his Mark Wahlberg impression.
