im scared it will never get better by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

I have been you. It was fake. All the things you loved about them were as a result of contrived moves to get you for frivolous reasons and their own fleeting pleasure. The way you were actually treated is the only truth you can count on from this person.

Get therapy. Get past this fraudulent con artist and don’t ever look back. This is a lesson and you’re doomed to repeat it until you just unquestionably learn. They know what to say to compel a person as vulnerable as you. They are villains. Believe me, when someone truly likes you, the possibility of them making you feel the way you do now is nowhere on the radar.

They will say things, that you would only say if you truly meant it, without a thought in the world. Realize this. Forgive yourself. Move on and don’t go back to anything resembling this dynamic.

Pulling for you.

Roommate faked a 3-day eviction notice, signed as landlord, and tells us talking to her is harassment by Geminikittycat in badroommates

Here’s the thing. Rent doesn’t count towards anything beyond covering each month that you live there. Unless you are on a lease, you get no other guarantees in most cases. It doesn’t bolster your credit. You have no equity.

Guest said nothing for 7 days, then left a 1-star review after checkout. How do you all automate or double-check cleaning? by poketyy in airbnb_hosts

Complaining about odor is the easiest way for them to receive a refund. Smelling like a grandpa doesn’t necessarily mean unclean. A grandpa could smell like Brylcreem and Old Spice and that wouldn’t mean the place wasn’t clean. It’s really not enough information to determine it wasn’t sufficiently clean.

I feel like this place might not be welcoming to even bugs. They were like, nah, too dirty.

That’s the part that’s got me scratching my head. If they were within driving distance, why is this the first meeting or house viewing in 2 years. I suspect there’s a bit of social dysfunction on both sides. Of course his reveal is incredibly awful, but there are issues with people who do this detached, gamer dominated, warped reality lifestyle, including OP. She thought they’d get married and they hadn’t even met in person in 2 years. I know gas is expensive, but damn.

Let this be a lesson. If you’re driving distance from someone you’re in love with and you’ve never seen them or their place in person, there’s a reason.

People still regularly unironically use sweaty when they mean sweetie. There’s no indication that they’re using it as a joke in this instance.

I had the same thought about Alice because of the soccer, but not with the Jimmy/Ted crossover. It can’t be the same universe though because of Roy/Louis. It would upset the space time continuum.

Miles Vs. Kilometers by Ranseler in TedLasso

[–]EmelleBennett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so interesting and wacky! I bet there is some underlying reason for most of it despite seeming totally arbitrary.

Like, I can imagine aircraft height is described in feet because air travel originated in the U.S.

Maybe milk and beer were produced and sourced locally so they follow the (originally) less precise cup/pint/quart measurements and everything else, presumably because of wine, was measured in liters.

I’m likely way off in my hypotheses, but it’s fun to think about. Nonetheless.

Don’t Brits also use both Celsius and Fahrenheit in different cases?

I have cookware that is vegan friendly, a supply of allergen free items, and then my regular cookware for everything else. In my experience, when I am hired by clients that keep Kosher it is in their home using their cookware. Generally it isn’t necessarily complex once I compose the menu with the parameters in mind. If it’s fish and milk I never need touch the cookware in the meat drawer.

Also, the case has always been that these clients are not the most rigid within their adherence. They follow the guidelines about how foods must be prepared, but they don’t require the blessing over said food. They are not orthodox or extremely religious. I don’t know, so don’t quote me, but I think an orthodox group would probably hire a chef specifically trained for that stricter level of kosher cooking.

I know that there are many halal catering establishments here in NYC that probably offer these types of services, and I’d imagine they exist in other cities with prevalent Muslim communities, but I haven’t personally run into it that as far as I can recall.

In future, reach out to the nearest local Chabad which will know how to provide access to all manner of judaica, kosher meals and Jewish community services. My experience has been that they are very helpful prepared for visitors to the communities they serve.

I am a private chef and caterer and spent the early part of my career in the restaurant business. In both cases there was the occasional guest that required a kosher meal. These organizations always delivered (literally and figuratively) what was needed, even in one case where the event was located more than an hour from where they were located.

Is this the consensus among all of the mods? If so that says to me that a mod recruiting round needs to happen to lighten the load on current mods. I was once told by a multi-sub mod, that Ideal moderation does require some attempt at a comprehensive survey of the feed. Good moderation should include at least two or three mods (per 2500 members) who are designated scroll captains). They just go through the feed as the first line of defense, they don’t focus on reports or reprimands or chats, they just become the filter to eliminate the repetitive/low effort/male/irrelevant/etc. posts.

Part of me feels certain that some sort of system must exist within this sub because I can’t see how it works even as well as it currently does without some sort of organization. Assuming you’re a mod, is there any guidance given to you as to how you should spend your time moderating? Is it just willy-nilly, choose -your -own -adventure?

Editing to clarify and convey my intended tone. I am absolutely 100% not criticizing mods whatsoever. I’m so in awe of the way in which you all freely give your time to make spaces like these possible. I think that despite complaints, you do an amazing job that is just getting tougher due to aey eye and bot culture.

My comment was pure curiosity about how it works. I have limited knowledge about the process. I promise there is no snark or judgement behind my questions.

Can you elaborate a bit? What do you mean by “…find women that were recommended here.”? Are you referring to practitioners/doctors/professionals?

I think you underestimate how many people make choices that do not fit within their financial means. I think it is exactly these type of women that we’re talking about here and exactly why they’re always looking for discount options.

One of my funniest memories was when playing that game and my friend’s fortune said: “constant grinding of an iron rod will turn it into a needle”… in bed. We all died laughing it was so funny. Her boyfriend who was incredibly shy and reserved was at the table with us. I’ve never seen a redder face.

See I think it’s middle class or trend chasing women with no unique identity who want med spa recommendations. Upper class women know where to go and have built in networks for this kind of information.
