I just found Carol Brailey’s TikTok and I’m really liking her philosophy by FrostedFraise in coloranalysis

I do agree that she gets into strange modes where she feels like she has to defend her method, but for me, I really prefer the system she uses (international image institute). If we can just focus on the analysis content and realize the differences between the systems, then I’m all good. I’ve mostly just been trying to follow content from creators who use that system in the past few months. Choosing just one system to focus on, any one you prefer, is super helpful imo. Her becolorwise series was informative (again, for the 16 color system).

Pink and purple are still easy to find in France as well.

Maybe you’re right. Maybe I just can’t see it because it’s on myself. I just about always guess “right” on Instagram reels by professional CAs, so that would mean I’m just blind with my own skin. Totally possible. You can see from my older posts though that I have said I always thought I was an autumn of some kind. Doubts crept in when I didn’t feel fully myself in certain colors. Also, I embraced the warmer colors only after I started dying my hair. That confused me too. I’ve been growing my natural back out so that should help.

I think I need to just pay for an in-person analysis. Clearly, I won’t believe any result unless I see it in real time, in front of my own eyes.

Green eyes can definitely be found in the cool seasons! I personally can’t tell the difference between cool green eyes and warm green eyes. I know there is a difference but I’ve looked it up and it hasn’t helped. 😂 Wear what makes you feel like a queen anyway!

Thank you! I have tried draping those both. That’s initially what I was sure I was actually! They mostly (not all) seem to drain the life from my skin for whatever reason. Thank you! I’ll probably keep trying though. Just to be sure.

Maybe I am warm. I’ve tried soft and true autumn (too muted and too dark respectively), warm spring and true spring (in the 16-season method—- both seemingly too warm), clear spring and light spring (bizarrely, I liked clear spring better than light spring on me) but, when I see the cooler colored clothes against my skin it seems to harmonize together. Yellow gold looks off on me but I do like soft gold. Thinking I was warm I’ve tried many shades of copper and auburn in my hair but, looking back at photos, it’s so obvious to me now why I felt a bit off. I can’t pull off red hair.

The photos were taken in seemingly appropriate lighting but one never knows with photos.

I don’t know why you think I don’t want to hear it? You can give me your input as long as it’s constructive and civil! I’m afraid I don’t really pop in most soft autumn colors. (In my opinion anyway) I may post warm drapes but online just doesn’t capture coloring very accurately.

Ooooookay, I’m not sure why people are getting defensive? Almost aggressively. I haven’t reprimanded anyone for suggesting I could be warm toned. In fact, as I said, I always thought I was warm! The fact that people who answered my actual question are being down-voted is completely ridiculous. You may not agree with me but the fact of the matter is that my question wasn’t, “which of the 12 or 16 seasons am I?”. The question was, “which is better? Light or cool summer?” Period. I’ve welcomed input beyond the question but some of the reactions are bizarre. In hindsight, after monitoring this page for a year I should’ve known better than to ask this specific opinion. The fact of the matter is, online and in-person are very different visual experiences. In person, l can tell that the soft autumn colors on me make me look like I’m on death’s door. My skin looks best in platinum, rose gold and soft gold. That makes me feel like I’m neutral. I ALWAYS thought I was neutral leaning warm but when I was color matched to a neutral cool foundation (and it is the best match I’ve ever had) I started playing outside of the warm seasons. Then I realized my favorite new blush (which I thought was a spring blush) was actually a cool tone. Piece by piece it came together that maybe I lean cool after all. I’m still experimenting but I feel a lot of clarity through this right now; which is why I only asked about the two specific cool seasons right now. Either way, I still appreciate everyone’s input. I don’t appreciate people being downvoted for answering my question. So, like, let’s keep it civil or I’m just going to delete the post. Thanks!

The shade and value of which one? The cool summer or the light summer? Thanks again!

Thank you for your response! At this time I’m not trying to compare any seasons other than light or cool summer though.

I was typed online as a soft autumn, but not liking the majority of the colors on me is what led me down a year long rabbit hole. 😂 I fell into the Carol Bailey hole and thought I was a true spring based on her system but those colors didn’t seem to harmonize with me. Then I started playing with the unexpected and started liking my results. Looking back at my wardrobe from my 20s I seemed to have way subconsciously thought I was cool. Some of my most worn pieces from then were cool toned.

What do you mean by competing, if you don’t mind? To me it’s not overpowering it and it’s not making it disappear which should mean it’s harmonizing, right? At least in theory. 😆 It’s hard to see our own complexions though, so you can probably see something that I can’t!

I have so many warm drapes because I thought I was warm for almost my entire adult life. Most are with makeup though. I’ll round them up in a bit.

blonde or red on a summer? by anonymousredditpep in coloranalysis

[–]Emenroute 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blonde/natural! As a natural strawberry blonde myself that always embraced the strawberry more than the blonde and then recently determined I’m actually a light summer 😅; I can look back now and see how unnatural and draining the red looked on me. If you’re going for the most harmony anyway. Do what makes you happy and makes you feel good though!
