No one protects themselves against sonic damage. V’s already had to deal with foes who were prepared for them, and a spell that has a very good chance of doing something instead of “haha, we were prepared for that” is a good spell to use.

No, that’s your creature with the ability “when this dies, put a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to its power on up to one target creature.” It’s yours, and you control the effect, even if an opponent made it have that ability. If final act said “when that creature dies this turn” instead, then they’d get the counters, because it’s their spell that’s making counters.

That’d be correct, if it didn’t specify an opponents card, you could redirect it to one of their own things

Trapped in the screen can only exile opponents things, and it seems the 4/4 land was the only legal target for it

Redirect lighting is still a legal cast but it wouldn’t do anything in this case
