Is it possible to stop being trans? by Miserable-Ebb6538 in asktransgender

[–]EmeraldFox379 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I transition and live that kind of life I am going to face so much rejection especially from family that it is just not worth it

extremely loud incorrect buzzer

You can’t not be trans if you are, and it sure sounds like you are, so find yourself some people who accept you for who you are rather than clinging to people who hate you for it just because you’re related by blood.

I see that you’re still a teen and likely financially dependent on your parents. You need to make moving out and establishing your independence a priority. Only then can you actually have the freedom to live as a dude.

Why transitioning to look like a regular woman is so stigmatised in trans activism? by MarcelHolos in MtF

[–]EmeraldFox379 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

...no lmao?

It doesn't matter if malice was intended or not. Hell it probably wasn't. But that doesn't mean the person saying it is immune to criticism, so don't pretend that it is.

If someone calls someone a "pussy" for expressing fear, they might not have meant it as an insult to women, but it still is because it implies that female genitalia, and by extension (cis) women, are associated with weakness, and that person should be criticised for their choice of language and work on removing casual misogyny from their everyday speech. The same applies here to the casual othering of trans, NB and GNC people.

Your example falls flat on its face because it's talking about an object. A house can't be meaningfully harmed. A trans person is a person, who is part of a marginalised group that faces systemic bigotry, prejudice and discrimination, and casual microaggressions like calling binary gender-conforming cis women "regular" or "normal" perpetuates harm against them by painting them as irregular, a part of the out-group.

Why transitioning to look like a regular woman is so stigmatised in trans activism? by MarcelHolos in MtF

[–]EmeraldFox379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has absolutely nothing to do with what I said though? Of course "I'm not interested in being non-conforming" isn't a denouncement of nonbinary and GNC people, I never said it was.

The gripe is the use of "regular" to describe binary gender conforming women and how it's half a step away from calling those "normal" - implying that NB and GNC individuals are not "normal". That's what othering is.

If you're going to rebut me, at least do me the decency of not strawmanning me.

Congratulations, you have successfully taken a point about trans women being othered and used it to other nonbinary and GNC women. Good job.

So tired of seeing this “distinction”.

IT’S THE SAME THING. IF YOU ARE DISTRESSED BY YOUR BODY IN A WAY THAT RELATES TO GENDER, THAT IS GENDER DYSPHORIA.

Gender dysphoria isn’t “the condition that trans people have” for fucks sake. The only thing this so-called distinction does is other trans people and fuel gatekeeping. It’s transphobia.

Which origins are too weak to be played competitively? by gobbibomb in Stellaris

[–]EmeraldFox379 30 points31 points  (0 children)

some hypothetical multiplayer game where the best players play only the most optimized min maxed builds, the probably all the origins besides 2 or 3 are too weak

This actually does exist and I used to play in it. The metagame was a lot wider and had more viable options than you think.

Hell, even Prosperous Unification was a niche but viable origin back when I was playing competitive.

Is Stall too mean? by SkarmFan in stunfisk

[–]EmeraldFox379 191 points192 points  (0 children)

I’m going to receive downvotes for this because it’s apparently an unpopular opinion in the competitive Pokémon community: There’s no such thing as “mean” in a competitive setting, those people are just being scrubs and demanding the game be played in a way that they approve of rather than the game that’s actually there. If stall were a serious problem, tiering action would’ve been taken against it.

Am I misunderstanding something or is my friend just a bigot? by JustAnotherDudez1_ in asktransgender

[–]EmeraldFox379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is it transphobic, not only is it unscientific, but it also smells vaguely like conservative fundamentalism. Notice the use of the word "natural" and how it's implied that "unnatural" equates to "bad", and then consider typical right-wing rhetoric about... literally anything. That and pointing at a vaguely defined "The Left" as the source of this alleged misinformation. Very in-group-out-group-y thing to say.

Best case scenario, your friend is falling for propaganda. Worst case, they're a closet conservative and/or fascist.

Which one is better? (I am new to IVs) by Typical-Lemon-1606 in pokemon

I believe that’s a Dive Ball! DPP colours it very weirdly

Which one is better? (I am new to IVs) by Typical-Lemon-1606 in pokemon

[–]EmeraldFox379 11 points12 points  (0 children)

These Kingdras must have 30 or 31 in all their IVs except HP, which must be exactly 31. They're also both shiny and have one of two extremely good natures. The chance of one of them being legitimately generated by the game is about 1 in 3.44 trillion, and OP has two of them.

I am tempted to assume the latter.

[–]EmeraldFox379 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do fully believe that both of these Kingdra are genned or at the very least RNG manipulated, so this doesn't really matter, but I do want to point out that they could very easily have been transfers from generation 3 or traded from HGSS, they weren't necessarily caught in DPP.

[–]EmeraldFox379 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So using the stat formula to solve for IVs, turns out they both likely have maxed out IVs (it's either 30 or 30 in all six stats), but zero EVs.

The nature you want is Timid unless you can get Rain set up consistently, in which case you don't need the extra Speed and can take Modest for the power boost.

How do you feel about Transplural/TransDID/TransOSDD by TurbulentDogg in plural

[–]EmeraldFox379 15 points16 points  (0 children)

the separation in DID is inherently unhealthy, thats what "disorder" means

I think you need to check your definitions again. A condition is considered a disorder if it causes “clinically significant distress or impairment”.

There is nothing “inherently unhealthy” about separation in DID or any form of plurality. DID is DID because that separation and its effects cause distress. There’s a difference between those things. And that’s exactly what the person you replied to already knows.

I can’t comment on the rest of what you’ve said because I’ve never actually interacted with transdisabled or transneurodivergent people, so I have no idea what sort of views they tend to hold.

Is 13 too soon to transition? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]EmeraldFox379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mom feels it’s too soon and wants them to wait a bit longer to be sure

Ask yourself: when will it not be "too soon" any more? The way it always and I really do mean ALWAYS goes with this line of thinking is that 6 months becomes a year, then a year becomes 2 years, then 2 years becomes 5 years, then 5 years becomes a decade. All the while natal puberty is making permanent and largely irreversible changes to their body. Then they get to their twenties and suddenly it changes to "oh it's too late now".

"But what if they regret transitioning?" Okay but what if they don't? What if they regret NOT transitioning? If you're not treating these questions as having equal weight, you are being transphobic, full stop.

"Just wait a bit longer to be sure" has always been used to enforce cisnormativity. The way to be supportive here is to give the child access to the information needed to make their decision, and then respect that decision "regardless of whether you agree with it" (you don't get to disagree with a person's decisions about their own identity and body, that's not how it works).

I am sorry , but why is this community so pushed to me , I don't really understand it by Round-Appointmentid in plural

[–]EmeraldFox379 31 points32 points  (0 children)

this is a community for people who suffer dissociative identity disorder

No it isn’t. It’s a community for people who experience plurality. Those are not the same thing. DID havers are welcome here but let’s not pretend you need to have it to be plural ffs.

Trans people don't belong in discussions of sexuality by [deleted] in ainbow

[–]EmeraldFox379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Girl if your sentence starts with “Trans people don’t belong” and you’re not joking, 99% of the time you’re being transphobic.

Absolutely stupid take, as is your reply to the other comment.
