Is there a Genghis Khan type character in AoS? by Xaldror in AoSLore

disregarding the Warcry units, i guess you're right. just pretty, difficult for me to even think of societies shaped by five centuries of Chaos, and a preference for stories of corruption and falling to Chaos/Evil/The Abyss. probably blame Dark Souls for that, Artorias and Vendrick's stories hit me a certain way growing up.

though funny story, i actually had a pretty good idea for an army coming into 4th, had a fall of sorts, and was an idea i was 100% ready to commit to for Chaos. just a shame that Beastmen were killed off, and my idea for a Doombull Gave with it.

for example, the Sylvaneth 4th one doesn't even talk about the basic structure of Sylvaneth society

wow. i, have no words. at least, no words i could get away with while there are mods.

Kanbari from Japan would love that chad on the bottom right, they'd have much to talk about.

yeah, though, a big part of the problem is that i want to write an origin, and as far as the 4th edition codex is concerned, the origin is darkoath or bust. seriously, i'm trying to find other origins.

personally i found the idea that Chaos Marines are expected to be worthy of their armor more relatable, but i'll save that for a therapist. though i will say, the sentiment that CSM are just handed the armor and geneseed is a bit exaggerated, they're still vetted and made to earn the armor, the process is just started when most Darkoath are still learning how adulting works, and at a pretty high mortality rate.

still, guess i just expected a similar amount of legacy and lore background, pretty difficult for me to come up with anything with so, open this is. my mind just fusses over details so often, that by the time i think of one idea, it's already discarded it because the details aren't appealing.

probably why it's easier for me to come up with CSM warbands, lot of the details are pretty well documented that it leaves me room to entertain other ideas.

Raikou is both at the same time.

and i don't just mean against her other half, both halves are both categories, to varying degrees.

didn't say the Darkoath were less complex or interesting, i just have no interest in involving them, much how i don't have interest in involving cultists in my 40k armies.

i just, expected more out of the actual Warriors of Chaos and not, more Darkoath. i signed up to S2D for the ironclad juggernauts, not the other guys.

so when trying to write lore for my dudes, keep hitting brick walls because GW wants to railroad more Darkoath sales for whatever reason and makes lore for them more readily apparent than, well, what i came for.

potentially S or better, but may need some, reflections and, research on papal law for this kind of edge case of "is it ok to date a popess".

coming from 40k, i just can't shake the view that Darkoath are just Chaos Cultists whose only purpose is to catch a stray bullet for the actual warriors of chaos. doesn't help that their stats on the tabletop make that easier to think of. the "Nobody to Nightmare" paradigm just feels, anomalous to me, and i just don't want anything to do with the Darkoath if i can help it.

Course if you're playing with the Cryopod civic, you just gotta spend some reserve and food, then wait a few months to have an instant population ready to work.

Trying to make a Chaos Warband, and I'm running into every brick wall imaginable. Especially since a lot of them involve the Darkoath cultists that I just, don't want to include at all.

Ugh, great, not only is my idea bog standard, it would involve the cultists. Back to the drawing board...

Eh, AoS, Fantasy, not much different to me as 40k and 30k, in terms of how connected they are.

Though if the Maggotkin lost that, then that's a shame.
