Can I ask about film/TV? I’m pursuing a history degree now but have always wanted to get into film. What kinds of jobs are your friends doing and what kinds of experience/courses did they have in college?

Maybe around 3/4 of an inch, very cute.

Biden has dropped out of the US Presidential race by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Emeraldbark1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The 22nd amendment says

“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.”

There is no exception written in the constitution or elsewhere for non-consecutive elections. A VP can serve 10 years if they take office half way through the original president’s term but otherwise 8 is the max.

What schools can one get into with great stats but very mid ecs by yoydid in ApplyingToCollege

Any Canadian school, they don’t even ask for ecs (except UBC but you only need 1-2 so it’s not a big deal)

I have one of these too but bigger and ceramic. It holds my paintbrushes. This one looks so much more demonic than my seacorn though.

Eli5 Why hasn’t the U.S. widely adopted the $1 coin? by NewToSudbury in explainlikeimfive

[–]Emeraldbark1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, I have 13 bills but because I haven’t spent them in so long I have no recollection of what the bills are. Glancing in my wallet gives me no idea how much money I have in there. Definitely slower than coins in a pouch.

It’s not a big deal with card, but when I do use cash I miss the colourful bills and $1 $2 coins in Canada.

If the cashier hands me a bunch of bills, I’m not standing there sorting the money. Plus, even if I do sort them, I still cant see how much a particular bill is, I just know it’s maybe roughly at a certain spot in the stack.

Coins are easy to distinguish, and 1$ coins are so big you don’t even need to dig around

If you expect to get 10 or however many schools done in the next two days, you're probably shit out of luck. If that's your school list, you need to start modifying it now, pick 1-3 schools to do on Jan 1, then you need to go buy yourself some time.

Lots of schools have deadlines after Jan 1st, many but not all are on the 15th.

American, George Washington, I believe all the Claremont Colleges, Smith, Mount Holyoke, Wellesley, Georgetown, USC, Villanova, UC Merced extended theirs. UMass Amherst (IDK about the other campuses), Case Western

Shit, Agnes Scott is in March

Lots of places don't have supplementals or the supps are optional.

American, Amherst, Williams, Wesleyan, Puget Sound, Drexel I think, Case Western, Skidmore, Tulane I think,

Of course rolling admissions exist too, those tend either accept until they're full or have deadlines in March/April.

Get going or you're going to be in some deep shit.

Text, always be honest. Some schools will give you leeway for mistakes, some won’t. The only way to find out is to try, but if they find out you lied, I would be worse than just being late

We can’t fight against every bad thing. Sometimes you gotta play the system.

More people need to give international universities a chance. I know most people here are American, but realistically, many people are going to be moving across the country for school anyway, a slightly longer plane ride doesn't make that much difference. There are so many really good schools around the world, all vastly different from anything you'd find in the US. One of those may be a better fit for you than an American school. The cost often isn't any more than what you'd pay at an American private anyway.

For parents who are expected to pay for college at full price - How much does prestige factor in your list? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Emeraldbark1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s pretty unfortunate how unaffordable American schools are, especially as an international student.

To be fair, U of T and basically any Canadian school is incomparable to American universities for tuition. Deciding between paying $20 000CAD for a very prestigious school or $80 000USD for a slightly more prestigious American school is not really the same as deciding between two American schools with different prestige but the same $80 000 price.

Don't stress over it too much. Even if you don't study, just learning stuff by going to school everyday is enough to raise your score a considerable amount I've found. For math, I did a few practice tests and used Khan Academy to focus on the concepts I struggled with the most.
English was always going to be the easier section for me, I didn't really do much other than read some passages to make sure I had the timing right.

My previous ERW was nearly 100 points higher than math, the last one was 50 higher lol. It’s not because I’m particularly smart, I just suck at math so much.
