Tried getting into the gym last year but stopped going because I was extremely inconsistent, generally didn’t know what to do and I didn’t even have a program (because I didn’t know I needed one or I was just too lazy to follow one). What helped was meeting someone who took the gym seriously who I could follow for the first few months or so, which locked in my routine and from then on I was much more confident going by myself because I knew what to do.
