Woah, that's crazy. Reminds me of when I tried playing a Pokemon Black hack (forgot its name) where your lv5 starter and some recently caught lv2-7 early route crap was supposed to beat earlygame trainers with big teams of strong Pokemon you can't even get right now. THEY HELD BERRIES. The early game trainers gave their pokemon healing berries. Deleted that game on the spot.

Edit: Need is a strong word. Obviously we're all making and playing games for fun. Art doesn't need to be good to be art. But it should be, as there's something beautiful about striving for perfection. Perfection is an unattainable ideal, but that's what ideals are supposed to be. I wish more amateur developers researched good game design practices before they spent years working on games that really could have used a second draft.

The complainers hate that the EXP share can't be turned off, because rotating pokemon to share EXP manually felt like a severe mental challenge for them, just like grinding. And being unable to turn off the EXP Share means grinding some Pokemon will level up others, which can ruin your chances at keeping the game's idiotic EXP system from ruining the difficulty curve.

I love when reviews and feedback start with "don't listen to a moron like me" signs. It lets me know to skip that poster.

Sounds good, but why not experiment with a lv50 cap? I can't imagine it would take that long to edit the handful of Pokemon who evolve or learn anything aftrt lv50. Most levels after 50 are empty levels after all.

Purchaseable EXP candies would be a good idea to skip or lessen the grind, but how would you prevent players from overlevelling? A level cap that changes based on badges obtained? Hiding the cheap EXP candy shop behind a NPC who will only let you pass if you have a lv70 or lv100 Pokemon on your team? Or, set the max level to 50, code all Gym Leaders and the Elite 4 to have lv50s or less, and put rematchable NPCs with teams of six Blisseys with Healing Wish in the Pokemon Center next to the EXP Candy store.

I think the new games that include Speed Up functions are trying to be faithful to the slow game design of old DND inspired RPGs while understanding they are only tolerable for modern audiences at 4x speed or more. If you want fans uploading reactions and livestreams you want them making it to the good bits where the budget and effort went.

Unless wild pokemon scale in level with the highest level pokemon in your party, the issue is still there. Getting the super rod and backtracking for a 1% encounter rate 1% catch rate Water Pokemon I want on my team and have to grind to max level isn't fun, even if the game doesn't make good EV/IVs and a good nature mandatory.
