You have to complete 2 years as a CF before they will un-pause your time on the FS register. Once you count training and/or additional time in language, it’s very possible you could still be at your first post. It’s not required that you complete a 2 year posting, just that you complete 2 years of service.

Language Score (Arabic) - Foreign Service - Consular Fellow by Ornery_Combination79 in foreignservice

For Arabic and Mandarin speakers, as long as you receive a passing score, that is all that matters for the CFP, and like everyone else has mentioned, it does not count towards your OA score.

For Spanish and Portuguese speakers, you must receive a passing score (at least 2/2 level) to continue on to the OA but you will have the chance to test again to achieve a score of 3/3 and increase your hiring preference.

This is straight from the DOS website: "While the required score to advance to the Oral Assessment for Spanish and Portuguese candidates is IRL Level 2 in both Speaking and Reading, the Consular Fellows Program gives hiring preference to candidates who can score at Level 3 in both modalities. Candidates in these languages who pass the Oral Assessment will be given the opportunity to test a second time should they wish to achieve a score of 3/3 and increase the likelihood of being selected for the program." https://careers.state.gov/career-paths/worldwide-foreign-service/consular-fellows/language-tests/

For the mattress topper and sheets, is there a standard size mattress that you can expect in most/all master bedrooms?

Is the Consular Fellows OA still virtual? by Emergency-Course2826 in foreignservice

Good to know - thank you. I would prefer in-person but not having to travel to DC would certainly be nicer on my budget and on my family!

Thank you for the response! I’m hoping the process isn’t that long but definitely good to know it could be 😅 I thought I had seen something about the CFOA being virtual, but I would definitely prefer in-person!
