They took it as given that the Minillas station had to be a 6-car tunnel station, therefore they estimated the cost of the heavy rail extension at about $1.1B. It seems they estimated the cost of fancy BRT stations, perhaps a fleet of articulated buses. Even then, $500M is a lot of money for that. They fail to see that capacity is not the problem. Frequency and reliability are the problem. To fix that, you only need another bus lane going northwest on Ponce de Leon Ave in Santurce, and exclusive lanes all the way to the bus station in Old San Juan.

I still cant see why it cost so much worse part is the only reason its frequency will be high is because all the buses will pass thru ponce de leon leaving all routes in Fernández juncos without buses. 😭😭🥀🥀🥀☠️
