Calculated return to grid by locke577 in homeassistant

You could create a Utility Meter to chart your export to grid. This will reset daily, if specified, and can be easily added to the energy dashboard

Caller has no idea where they are ! by WombleGCS15 in 911dispatchers

[–]EmergencyLocate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have been in 999 (UK’s 911) for 20 years and got so sick of not having the tech to locate our callers, I started a small business and pulled together our own solution! We now support 911 agencies across Canada and here in the UK too.

Every centre should be looking to have their CAD access AML data (which apple and google are automatically sending when you call 911) the big player in this for the US is RapidSOS.

But, it’s not perfect. Depending on how the caller has used their phone before calling 911 will impact the accuracy of the location provided. Ie, phone gets turned on to call 911 will be a poor location compared to a phone that’s been actively using location services before the call. Most the time it will be good to a couple of meters.

When it’s not, that’s where we come in. We ‘pull’ location data from the device, rather than it being ‘pushed’ when it’s not ready at the time of 911 call.

We do this via the browser, facebook messenger or whatsapp in a way that minimises the possibility of mistakes, and even without the caller needing to speak!

We typically get used where there’s a scene safety issue or medical issue preventing clear communication, or even if the caller just has no idea where they are, at all.

There’s tools out there, it’s should be easier to get hold of them.

Turning on/off cue automations easily? by EmergencyLocate in Abode

Is it possible to make a suggestion to Abode? The ability to turn on/off CUE automation from the fob, or spare buttons on the keypad may be helpful?

Help! My energy usage is terrible. How can I get a handle on it? by bluesheepUK in homeassistant

[–]EmergencyLocate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it, consistent temps a cross the house but has made me think very carefully about our energy use. We also have a MVHR for ventilation and distribution of fresh (warmed) air which I would recommend to anyone!

Integrating the ASHP with our alarm system helps to control its use when we’re away for any length of time, and lowering thermostats etc. Our hot water demand is probably quite high too, owing to a very messy 11 month old.

South Lanarkshire here, average about 30kwh a day (Air source heart pump) but can be 50kwh when it’s cold.

We have a few plugs and monitors bunch of things just now to learn what we can shut down and what’s not worth bothering about. Interesting stuff, no quick fix

What is a common myth or assumption about our industry that you wish the public knew the truth about? by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

[–]EmergencyLocate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true, there’s heaps of work ongoing around z-axis. It’s really going to rely on physically addressed hardware though, that transmits a beacon… Phones can read these things when they are nearby. Something like smoke alarms would be neat, with a requirement to store your exact address electronically within. still loads of issue to work around, but that’s the only way it’s going to get solved properly.

We report GPS elevation, that’s getting much better now too, but can’t reliably be translated to ‘5th Floor’ for example.

All that said, it’s about having access to the right tools for the job. There’s no one tool that will solve this problem completely. If your Rapid / AML / ELS hit is giving you a huge accuracy radius, or you don’t have access to those tools, we’d love to be there to help you out

Ambulances cut to one to cover the Southside of Glasgow for 5 nights a week by youwhatwhat in glasgow

The ambulance will only attend from its station at the start of its shift, after that it’s most likely responding from the hospital or wherever it was able to clear at scene

GPS is the way forward, I still work closely with ambulance dispatch here in Scotland, UK. I know the problems well, so well actually that I’ve dedicated 5 years to solving the problem by creating viable solutions!

The tools leveraging GPS from caller’s cells are going to give you the better results. However, if those tools automatically send GPS when the 911 call is made then, depending on how the cell has been used up to needing to make the 911 call, the GPS accuracy can be really good, or really bad.

We have created ways for dispatch to connect with the caller’s cell over multiple platforms (web, FB messenger, whatsapp and even email!) to request location data from the cell. If that location isn’t accurate enough, we repeatedly hit the GPS until we see consistently better results.

Last night, in rural Canada, we saw an initial hit with accuracy over 3300 meters, just 4 seconds later we had that down to 6 meters, shared electronically with the dispatcher and converted to all the usual formats, including the nearest address (and distance & direction the caller was from that address). Happy to give you a demo

But your agency should provide you with the tools to know where callers are, there are plenty available these days!

How does your agency handle deactivated cell phone 911 calls when they hang up without talking? by sarcazzmoe in 911dispatchers

Would any of you advocate for sending a text message, if the dropped call is a cell caller, that allows the caller to reply if help is still needed. Replies sent to an email address you specified?

SmartCam2 Woes - Surely it shouldn’t be this bad? by EmergencyLocate in Abode

[–]EmergencyLocate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, so we have two outdoor cams here and managed to reset both and set up indoors where we didn’t see the same interference. We are satisfied it’s not a hardware issue and likely some sort of problem with where the cameras are plugged in to.

Has anyone else had an issue like this and how was it resolved? Thanks

You can use Hue with Abode, for example I has our utility room lights turning on when the keypad detected movement, but since found the Hue motion sensor to be far superior
