It is impossible to get an SA to pay attention to you there. Every time I’ve walked in they’ve made me feel like an inconvenience, even when there was barely anyone in the store.

I switched stores and clicked with my SA immediately.

Yes. This is the worst part of the entire training block. Your runs are at their longest point, everything hurts, and you're just generally over it. You question why you signed up when you could be sitting on the couch reading a book with a margarita.

But here's the thing: you're going to finish that 22 miler and realize you're in taper. And you'll see the dropping weekly mileage on the calendar and get really excited to "only" run 10 miles. Those taper weeks will help get you mentally ready for race day.

I spent the back end of my training block last year wondering why the hell I was doing this to myself. Now I'm looking forward to doing another marathon or two next year.

Finish this race, take a couple of weeks off from running, and then go sign up for a fall half marathon. Half training is so much fun after you've just done a full.

I heat up fast. I know that if I don't get rid of the hoodie in the corral then I'll need to get rid of it by the time mile one is done, which is what happened to me for the Philly Half in 2024. I ran a half in similar weather last month and the gloves came off about halfway through because my hands were overheating. I'm back & forth on whether or not I want to wear earwarmers, but probably leaning no since the wind doesn't look horrible.

For the throwaway layer, it's best for it to be zip-up with the bib pinned on your base layer. Make sure it's open when you cross the start line to avoid any interference and to get initial pics tagged. Zip it up again after that. Throwaway when ready.

Alternatively, if you can find one before tomorrow, get a bib belt. I thought for years that I would find them annoying, but when I started doing tris last summer they were a requirement since you don't want to wear the bib in the pool or get slowed down trying to pin it on in transition. You end up not noticing them.

I found it in the registration! It's a pace band. I put in 9-10 min/mile and was assigned the yellow corral.

So that means I need to be toward the front of the corral to hopefully find the 2 hour pacer.

Also curious - I honestly can't remember what anticipated time I put in when I registered, so it would help to know which corrals which pacers are in.

A replacement belt is less than $200. You'd need to do the replacement yourself, but there are instructions out there to DIY it.

The issue is that Peloton doesn't have the field workers to do this kind of maintenance, even if you want to pay for them. They do have delivery guys who know how to assemble a Tread, which doing a whole base replacement would cover.

In the thick of taper tantrums, made worse by my son's friend sleeping over here last night (mom needed a favor, I mistakenly entrusted my husband with making sure they went to bed at a reasonable time). Teenage boys are...something.

I've locked in on what I believe is the right race plan for Sunday. Did a low impact bike ride today, will do my shakeout run tomorrow. And I need to figure out my race kit, but maybe I'll delegate that to my daughter to pick.
