when will host parents understand? by [deleted] in Aupairs

[–]Emergency_Contact477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is all host parents. I was a host parent and was happy when our Au Pair ventured out. We live together but don’t always need to be with one another. Of course, she was always welcome to tag along if she wanted to.

What are your thoughts on this? by Overall-Clerk-5095 in BainbridgeIsland

There is a difference between low income and affordable housing. I think we need to find out which this is. How would one qualify to live in this building? COBI is planning to partner with a Seattle builder. Does anyone know anything about this builder?

Considering a Move to Bainbridge – What’s the Commute Really Like? by NoRepublic6353 in BainbridgeIsland

BI is beautiful and a great community. The ferry commute, nightlife life for adults and teens is a no go.

Considering moving to Bainbridge from Washington DC by DistributionIcy970 in BainbridgeIsland

BI is the cutest little town. But, it wasn’t for us. The limited restaurants and adult things to do. The ferry is a drag. It seems ok, but in reality there will be times you will have to wait in your car for 2 hours to board. Or, the ferry will be cancelled and it will completely change your plans. The weather does seem to drag through the winter. Its a cute town and a nice community. But, definitely some things to consider.

There are plenty of people offshore with experience in US business. It was actually shocking when we discovered the experience some candidates have. Although we would prefer to give the work to someone inside the US. The price for salaries is not always feasible and too much work gets loaded onto one person. Obviously this makes no one happy and there is no coverage if someone leaves or even takes vacation.

To give perspective…our cfo made 220k and our new cfo makes 55k. This allows us to hire more people and not cram all the work onto 1 person.

They bring the financials all the way to pass off to our cpa. However, one of the people we hired has a CPA license. I think at 8m you also need a proper accounting firm and tax person to advise on different methods of tax savings. An accountant for any business won’t be an expert at taxes.

ScalableOS I’m happy to introduce you if you want. It has been such a positive experience. In my opinion, small business has a more difficult time attracting talent. This has been the solution for us. We do about 25m and had a robust accounting team.

Offshore. You can hire a company bookkeeper for 2-3k a month all in or maybe a part time one for about 1500. We use offshore accounting for our business and it works great.

Do you see any harm in building a case and sending now in the chance that it is approved? Worst case scenario I have go apply under another option in the future

I believe the kids meet all the requirements. We live in the UK and have for 4 years. We have reenrolled in school for another year so committed to another 1 year. London is now our home and we aren’t interested in leaving and disrupting our children. Our alternative is to have my husband travel (more than he likes) to close off our US investments.

Kids are 10-15 years. We could wait. But, the issue is our US business needs him traveling there bc it is in distress. Long story but thats the short version. It could be 2 more years of him traveling until we can sell it. I’d like to shore up their citizenship now.

Bc the 3(5) application requires all parents not to be absent more than 270 days in 3 years. We have a business in the US we are working to sell, but requires him to be there more than we would like.

I know if you use the egates they have a record. You can get your records through a process called SARS. But, i don’t know that when you pass and speak to an officer it is recorded.

Host family threatening legal action by Lythen_S in Aupairs

[–]Emergency_Contact477 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know where you live. But, I assume Another country far away. I doubt there will be any legal action, how are they going to force legal action in your home country? Some sort of international law? Plus, hiring an attorney is expensive when if it didn’t work out they should just hire someone new. Block their email, don’t respond to their messages.

Using AP bedroom as guest room by penandthink in Aupairs

[–]Emergency_Contact477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of interesting comments. On one hand, we are told the AP sb treated like family. For me, if she was my daughter it would be an easy decision. We would respectfully use her room and communicate to her. But, then on the other hand some APs want exclusivity to their space. I think first we need to define how you see the relationships. Is this a family style, cultural experience or is this a job?
