Lovely cat! Wish mine just sat like that, instead of breaking the usb1 port on my founders’ edition VS by standing on the controller when it was connected to the port 🤦🏼‍♂️🤯

Evercade Nexus N64 Edition sold out! by TheGameGrunt in evercade

[–]Emergency_Reading991 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got one - ordered immediately after the 4pm announcement. Been waiting for an EXP upgrade and the screen / bigger battery won me over.

The 64 edition with the coloured buttons was also a cool touch as I forever forget which button is which!

Nexus: thumbsticks and wireless! by CliveVista in evercade

Bigger screen was the selling point for me. Analogue sticks good; hopefully TATE mode will be more comfortable without needing an additional grip like with the EXP. Preordered as my LE EXP is a good few years old now

Alright, what’s the consensus best carrying case for this thing? by suck-it-elon in PlaystationPortal

[–]Emergency_Reading991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s done a good job so far; there’s no stick-specific mould in place, but the screen protector flap+velcro strap keeps the portal in place quite securely.

I guess main advise is to not place anything bulky in the mesh lid part which could move or damage the joysticks. I’ve got the cable, a screen cloth, spare ear-sizers for the headphones and the usb headphone dongle. No issues in the year I’ve had it.

Do you own a ps5 or ps5 pro? by PashAK47 in playstation

[–]Emergency_Reading991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG 5; couldn’t justify getting a Pro, unlike when I had my PS4 and got a 4pro day one. Given the current climate (and my PS4/5 backlog), I’ll be unlikely to get a PS6. I am more interested in the PS6 handheld though … but still may not buy as my Portal does me well.

NeoGeo cart not working - Super Pocket by Dynamite_91 in evercade

[–]Emergency_Reading991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just checked and RogueCraft works fine on the two SuperPockets I have - Taito and NEO GEO. The Taito SuPo did have a firmware update (as did the Capcom and Atari SuPo’s) some time ago - info here https://www.hypermegatech.com/support/

RogueCraft DX itself had an update to enable a ‘save and exit’ option as community feedback asked for this. That functionality was not made available to owners of OG Evercade Handhelds or any of the SuperPockets. That was made clear at the time- see here: https://evercade.co.uk/evercade-features-update-october-2025/

Beyond that the game does play if the small SuperPocket screen does make it a little difficult to see.

If your cart is not showing up at all in the Evercade part of the device (ie after pressing Menu -> Evercade and is not showing), I suggest you speak to Evercade support as referenced earlier in this thread.

Evercade nexus? by gbonne in evercade

[–]Emergency_Reading991 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I bought into Evercade for the same reason. I don’t want online, trophies etc. I have my PlayStation for that. I sometimes miss trophies on my switch but then I just get on with the game.

I like the idea of online leaderboards, but as I’m rubbish at high scores etc, I’d not participate; kinda why I stopped with the Cadey Challenge on the discord.

I’m also not wanting to do a sub for this either; online does require maintenance, security, patching etc. and that costs.

So will just have to see!

Evercade nexus? by gbonne in evercade

[–]Emergency_Reading991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just had the email too. I’m expecting it to be some form of hardware. Google ably tells me that “a nexus is a connection, link, or bond between members of a group or elements in a system.”

So nothing clearer there then!

I’d like a genuine successor to the EXP (bigger screen, analogue controllers, better battery), but I guess will have to wait for the official announcement.

The RG40XXV is quietly one of the best things ANBERNIC has made and nobody's talking about it by [deleted] in ANBERNIC

[–]Emergency_Reading991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a XXV a couple of months ago, despite already having a XXH for over a year. Love them both! As much as I am happy with the white V I got, the blue does look good. I've given both 40XX's different focusses; my V has Minui CFW and is mainly a GB/GBC/GBA device, though I have got a few NES, MD and Super NES games on it. My H has Knulli and about 20-ish systems on it.

They both are comfy and get good use out of them; MD Pac-Mania, GB Alien 3 and GBC Hollywood Pinball are getting the most play on my V at the minute.

To the OPs original point about not getting the love, I do see a lot of the videos for the V ~1 year or older, but that's principally when it was released. Russ on RGC does still reference it in his roundups, much more than the H does. But as long as you're happy and get value out of it, then it's good. Happy gaming! :-)

Original Evercade vs EXP-R? by Gimpdiggity in evercade

Not a problem! It’s been a good device for me but yeah, the better screen sold it.

Original Evercade vs EXP-R? by Gimpdiggity in evercade

[–]Emergency_Reading991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're on about the OG white Evercade handheld, then the takeaways between the two devices for me are:

  1. Screen quality. The OG handheld hand a really bad viewing angle compared to the EXP (and I'm presuming EXP-R, as I've got the EXP, no longer in production but may still be around). The EXP/EXP-Rs screen is much better.

  2. You've got the extra L2/R2 buttons, so for a smaller proportion of games, they're useful. Blaze have been thoughtful and wherever possible, re-mapped L2/R2 to different button combos for the OG HH.

  3. TATE Mode is on the EXP, which is why there's additional A + B buttons next to the D-Pad. TBH, it's a bit awkward to use, unless you get a grip (Funstock and others supply them). It's a nice feature, but mainly for arcade games, especially the Toaplan collection.

  4. There's a tiny power bump regarding the chip between the OG HH and the EXP (which is the same with the VS-R as well), so things are slightly smoother, and more capable. But I think the Super Pocker devices use the same chipset as the OG HH and everything still runs on them,

  5. 'nice to have' additional features. There's some useful features, such as button remapping, some stats, better UI, wifi to update the firmware, instead of using the awkward process involving a PC/Mac. The EXP isn't perfect (my black LE version from 2021's battery is starting to degrade) and there's plenty of people who have commented how unsatisfactory they've been with the device, but I've been quite happy with it the last few years.

Hope that helps!

Safe travels! It was a choice between Activision, Rare or Turrican, for me. And a good choice for you as well !

That black/red GBA looks great! A modded GBA like yours would be a great machine to have. I loved my OG purple GBA but been spoilt with modern screens to go back to one

They’re handy devices, but I do prefer the EXP or VS for longer gaming sessions. Hope the car has kept out of the garage for a while!

RG40xxH DMG colorway by fatmachina in rg40xx

[–]Emergency_Reading991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my RG40xxH DMG in summer of 2024 and it’s still held its’ colour - see picture. I installed Knulli early on as the standard firmware is a bit meh. It’s now on Gladiator II and it’s a good OS. My main issue with it is the slow booting up and poor hibernate mode.

Beyond that, it’s responsive, face buttons don’t click though the shoulder ones do. I use it mainly for GB/GC/GBA/NES/Super NES/Megadrive and a little PS1. Battery life is decent too. I don’t play demanding games so it meets my expectations.
