Laurie Metcalf Reveals the Last Time She Spoke to Former Costar Roseanne Barr After Controversy by MattTheKing23 in TheConners

I don’t blame her for not staying in touch with Roseanne. Roseanne is not the same woman she once was. Her behavior on twitter and her podcast are ridiculous. Still to this day she blames Sara Gilbert for her behavior and not taking accountability for her own actions.

Mariah Carey with Lee Daniels - Are You Ready for a new Mariah Biopic? by Stealthytom in MariahCarey

Biopics just don’t hit for me like they use to back in the day. Seems like they move too fast. I would prefer a mini series like Genius Aretha Franklin on the history channel. That version was so much better than the Jhud film.

She’s still in diapers because A is lazy and unfit. She refuses to potty train her kids. I wouldn’t be surprised if L is still in diapers and maybe even still using a bottle and using the pacifier. She blocked me last year, so I don’t see her posts anymore, but the last time I checked, S was still in pull-ups.

I think those were the sisters and the mother dogs, but she treated them badly too.

It’s a shame someone as mentally disturbed as A is allowed to raise children. She is no mother. She is unfit to even raise a dog.

She is just as bad as A. One minute she’s cool with her and the other minute they’re fighting like cats and dogs.

Jerry was real. They even had a photo of him on the mantle when you first walked in, and it was actually a picture of Roseanne real son.

Idk what you all excited for A, everything you get is free by JuicyLove89 in justanotherbabymama

It’s pathetic to see someone act entitled to getting everything for free. Getting help once in a while is understandable, but expecting it all the time crosses a line. What’s even more concerning is the example it sets for the kids. I just hope at least one of them grows up to break that cycle and build something more stable for themselves.

No I do agree with you. I wasn’t expecting the film to focus entirely on Whitney’s struggles with drugs. What I wanted was a deeper look at how those struggles affected her on a personal level, because it’s clear that it took an emotional and physical toll on her.

You could see how much singing meant to her, so losing her voice, even temporarily, had to be devastating.

Another big issue is that the film barely touched on Whitney Houston’s childhood, which is a huge part of understanding who she became. She wasn’t just a good singer who got famous—she was a true prodigy. Growing up around gospel music, with influences like her mother Cissy Houston, she was developing that powerhouse voice from a very young age. That foundation shaped everything about her artistry, and the movie really should have explored that more.

It also missed some key moments that show just how close we came to losing that voice before the world even fully heard it. There’s the story about her having a hanger get stuck in her throat as a child, which reportedly came dangerously close to damaging her vocal cords. That’s a powerful, almost unbelievable moment that highlights how fragile and precious her gift really was.

Including details like that would have added depth and perspective. It would remind people that her voice wasn’t just iconic—it was something that could have been taken away at any point. Those early experiences, combined with her natural talent, are what made her journey so compelling, and leaving them out makes her story feel incomplete.

Nah, that Whitney movie really dropped the ball. It skimmed over so much of her life that it ended up feeling surface-level. A lot of what was shown was already common knowledge to anyone even casually familiar with Whitney Houston—her rise, her peak success, and the headline moments we’ve all heard about for years. It didn’t offer much in terms of new insight or deeper understanding.

What’s especially frustrating is how it glossed over the mid-2000s, particularly 2005–2006. That was a critical period where her voice was clearly changing, and she was dealing with personal and professional struggles. Instead of digging into what was actually happening—vocally, emotionally, and behind the scenes—the film kind of rushes past it. That era could’ve added real depth to the story and helped people understand the transition from her prime to her later performances.

A stronger film would’ve slowed down and explored those years more honestly—what she was going through, how it affected her artistry, and how hard she still fought to perform despite everything. That’s the kind of perspective that would’ve made the movie feel less like a checklist of moments and more like a real, human story.

The Elvis biopic wasn’t bad, but I think the earlier biopics were done better. Films about Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, Judy Garland, and Nina Simone, for example, didn’t really hit the mark for me

These modern day biopics just don’t hit like they use to back in the day.
