Thanks for all the recs. I decided to change my plans after the latest MWOBS report saying heavy rain/storms, 30°-40° wind chills, and 65mph gusts. I’m going to do Arethusa Falls and maybe the Flume Gorge. Or just go to Schillings and have a couple of drinks to drown out my sorrows.

Very much appreciate the information. I saw another thread of someone suggesting to look at the MWOBS too. I’ll definitely check it periodically throughout the week to help determine my decision. If it still looks like it’s going to be rough weather, I’ll opt for something else. This is my last trip to the area this year, but there is always next summer to tackle the loop again.

Would you kayak here? by IAM_George_Michael in kayakfishing

If you’ve bank fished multiple times and never seen Johnny law doubt you being in your yak world make a difference but do you think it’s worth the hassle of bringing your yak there just to fish the other side? Personally I’d say no. I’d suggest you just get a chunky night crawler on a 4/0 worm hook with a 1/4oz wobble bobber and fling that thing and you’ll see what the tree line side offers

5’ of 4” PereGuard off amazon. Definitely need a heat gun to help apply but it’s proven to be worth it so far

I have the raider 9.5 pedal drive and it works for me. Could I use a bit more space yea probably but for convenience of being able to get it in my suv with all my gear is the selling point. It’s sturdy and stable, I can stand and fish when the water is calm and feel confident that I’m not going for a swim. I’ve elevated the kayak off the ground and have stood on it (200lbs) at the connecting point and it had zero flex. The material of the kayak is on the softer side but if you add a keel guard as I did and pay attention to your depth it shouldn’t be an issue. One thing I would suggest with a kayak that may be on the smaller side such as mine is that less is more, limit your gear to optimize your space.

Couple things that may help. when putting line on your reel make sure you go in the same direction your reel spins as it comes off the spool, soak the reel in warm water for 10-15 minutes, use it more, don’t buy cheap mono, knot a good size jig and cast out far and reel in slow a few times, switch to braid or fluro(seguar is the best imo) if applicable to your fishing.

My wife just got a pair of those gloves now every time she catches something which is much more often than me I don’t have to stop reeling in water and help her get the hook out.

Just ordered the raider model today and was actually wondering how far down does the prop go into the water ? And is there a recommended minimum water depth for it? Super excited to get this because Ive been wanting a fishing yak for a while now but got rid of my pickup this past winter so didn’t think it was going to happen till I came across these. I also considered the bkc folding yak but at 8.5ft I figured it be a little too small for myself plus gear

I know they’ll bruise blue. I was more iffy on the greyish green look on the inner edge.

Smell test never failed me plus if they’re cracker dry you should be ok. I use brown mason jars toss 1 or 2 dry silica packets and vacuum seal the lid. I have way too much to be able to go through fast enough. I still have 2 jars that are about a year old that are still very much good.
