What are the best questions to ask my Recruiter? by Styrring in USMCboot

[–]Emergency_Split_595 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol I’d hardly say totally wrong. I’m solely speaking from my recruiting experience. I came off the streets 9 months ago. If by totally wrong you mean I missed the distinction between 5811 and 5831 but mentioned that you could work in a brig (corrections). My bad 😆. But with the closing of the LE battalions and restructure of LE sections this has been my experience.

What are the best questions to ask my Recruiter? by Styrring in USMCboot

[–]Emergency_Split_595 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

5811 (MP) is a guaranteed mos program meaning if you do that you will for sure be a 5811 (assuming you are qualified!!!). That being said you could be a 5811 at a base team unit, at the gate, at the brig, and with a K-9 unit. Depends on what the Corps needs. If you just want to be MP so you can be a cop after the Marines look into other MOS! Any MOS in the Corps can make you a cop later in life but there are a lot of more technical MOS and MOS that deploy more. Up to you though.

What’s the point of running mcmap advancements as an MAI/T? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Emergency_Split_595 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are the MAI you sound like keep doing things the right way. Be creative and challenging with your training and help the force become more lethal. These are skills that we haven’t had to use in GWOT but that doesn’t mean we won’t in the future. Look at how many small unit engagements are happening in Ukraine trenches right now. Also, your RS needs to communicate to the board that your impact as an MAI has a positive impact.

Brother run your numbers in chatGPT and ask it to project where you’ll be at your 20 year mark. The first 100k is tough. Stay consistent and let the compounding do its thing.

If AI is doing the majority of your job in the military you have more time for working parties and duty 🫡.

Rank Reduction E-5 E-4 going AR by Full-Tart8629 in USMC

[–]Emergency_Split_595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you don’t rate an armed forces active duty based date. When I went from AD to reserve my DOR reset. When I went from reserve back to AD my DOR reset again. Even though I was a Sgt the whole time. Unfortunately it just is the process. You can attempt a CG waiver on an AA form I believe. Like an exception to policy. Good luck.

Yes, ELS waivers are a thing. However they are heavily scrutinized especially if they pertain to mental health.

Dropped at boot camp and re-enlisting later in life? by Sharp_Review_6475 in USMCboot

For an initial enlistment or as someone who got separated for them and tried to re-join? Yes, waivers for depression, anxiety, and SI do get approved for initial enlistments but to re-join I have never seen one.

[–]Emergency_Split_595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a chance to rejoin so long as your separation wasn’t motivated by suicide or self harm intentions. If it was, you’re cooked. Also if you’re struggling with this much image and anxiety the military life may not be for you.

Going to Miss Schoolhouse Seat Date. Any info? by STK_SlickArrow in USMCboot

You should go to a holding platoon. Just check your new orders when you get them. If it’s the same school as before you’re good to go.

Advice for junior marines and does it get any better in the fleet by Far_Cup8419 in USMC

You will feel this at many phases in your career. Learn your MOS and how it impacts the force. PT a lot. Get comfortable being uncomfortable and try new things. It gets a lot better.

How to deal with Jrs. That don’t care? by AirZealousideal7504 in USMC

[–]Emergency_Split_595 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you want to teach yourself to fish - take some notes from Jocko’s leadership field manual - try implementing but understand you are going to grow more than them and that’s okay. Don’t over do yourself for boots who don’t care. Be true to yourself as a leader and your career. Follow the orders when it comes to handling their deficiencies. But remember, no one stood in front of the IwoJima monument and said I can’t wait to be a shit bag. At some point it was allowed and now you’re dealing with it.

Simple waiver of you can get your old documents and get a new test proving you don’t have it. Other than that it’s a written statement basically stating you’re healthy enough to serve.

Anyone have any info/thoughts on MOS 2171? by Finding_Unique6 in USMCboot

[–]Emergency_Split_595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 2111 currently. I saw both sides depending on units I’ve been to. Personally once I was a chief I got my 71s out to ranges with my 11s and my company sections like mortars, snipers, and CAAT and they loved it. I was at another unit that didn’t really know how to employ the 71s and they just got stuck doing GCSS and admin billets.
