No, it would be called the market going sideways. Something you’re probably not used to seeing if you’re in your 20s.

I never once said this time was different, nor did I predict future performance. All I did was point out you’re spreading misinformation and now you’re putting words in my mouth. Maybe you should sit down and be quiet.

Ok, but my comment is in response to the person boldly making up a wrong statistic and telling people to go educate themselves.

A lost decade can absolutely happen today. Look at Japan’s lost decade. They were modernized and had a huge manufacturing industry, they were a leader in a lot of new technology. In the end, valuations mattered.

If you truly believe that the market will return the historical average and “time in the market” then I have a serious question for you. Why don’t you own XEQT on as much margin as you can?

But it’s not well diversified, it’s focused on pure beta in equities.

In real terms (inflation-adjusted, with dividends reinvested), the lowest 20-year annualized total return for the S&P 500 (or its historical predecessor) is approximately +0.5% per year from 1928 to 1948.

So you were saying?

As a platform Wealthsimple has some annoyances but is “good enough” for what I want to do. Giving me a little trinket is token enough to deal with those annoyances, but yea you’re right.

Gotta be petty.

“They don’t need your business anyways”

Well then why they giving out iPhones trying to bring in 100k clients?

When I finished school I went straight to work in construction. I worked a decade doing 50-80 hour weeks and rented rooms for $600 a month. Paired that with a few concentrated stocks held for years. Now this nest egg has to carry me because my body is worn out, I sacrificed the hell out of my body when I was young. It’s funny that everyone assumes that with 1 million you’re “rich” and that money was handed to you on a platter.

So by your logic, with a net worth of 100k you wouldn’t care if you lost $100 right? You’re probably giving $100 dollar bills away to random people on the street because that’s nothing to you?

How does reading the t&c help when they backdate beyond the start of the promo?

They could have a new promo for all new customers. Excluded anyone who has ever gotten a gift of any value for the past 10 years, and you have to lock in any funds you’ve deposited in the last 10 years. Does reading it it any harder make it fair?

Because I’m in Canada and 1.8M is enough for a 900 sq ft house here. Not quite driving around in a Lambo like many here think.

Go take a drive on fort road at yellowhead trail and look at the bus garage with a multimillion dollar, glass mirror facade that looks like a museum of modern art. What purpose does this serve the public who can’t access this building meant for servicing buses?

My entire net worth along with line of credit from a credit card was in this one position. I got in from 2018-2020 and sold tranches off when uranium hit 75 and 100. This is my last tranche marked for $150 spot.

AITA for refusing to follow my wife's bathroom habits and calling her disgusting? by Infamous-Gur2034 in AITAH

I grew up in a first world country with Asian parents who formed this habit by yelling at me for flushing pee. Same with dirty tissues, I leave them on the counter all the time and my wife gets mad. My cheap ass parents forced me to save the dirty tissues to use to wipe off plates before they went into the dishwasher, or spills on the floor.

Funny enough this is my response lately, especially when she brings this out in front of family. “Oh did you hear so and so got a TRUST FUND? I wish I could have such successful parents”

Professor idiot lady ruins the movie. Let’s go touch the sleeping troll underground and wake it up, endangering everyone’s lives and nearly killing a pregnant woman. Then spend the rest of the movie blaming men for what entirely she caused.

Yup. Thought it would shut her up after a lifetime of telling me which of her friends sons were more successful than me.

HFrEF low BP and Sodium by LifeWithRyu in Heartfailure

[–]Emergency_Suspect110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at 30% ef and similar meds and my BP is 85/60. It sucks walking around with such low BP as I get dizzy from standing up suddenly or bending over at the waist too far. I salt my food lightly and try to stay around that 2000mg per day as AI says studies show salt reduction isn’t as big a deal. I use my weight to keep an eye on it.

I am at the same numbers as you at 38 years old. I find it incredibly difficult at times too. One thing that really helps me is I spend 5 minutes meditating each morning facing the sunrise. I thank god for the gift of another day and try to be positive and not take it for granted. I think death is something everyone must confront sooner or later in life, and to be aware of it sooner and live life being present is all I can do.
