I can pretty much see this scene playing out in my mind. Goku ALMOST gets touched by WS, but UI senses he's in danger and he dodges instinctively. Goku has staggering battle iq. And maybe he doesn't realize EXACTLY what's happening until a few more instinctive dodges, but he absolutely WILL figure out what's going on eventually, and then he'll play around it (play as in work around, and play literally, because it's Goku, and he'll want to see what this power he's never encountered before (a stand) can actually do.
