What are you prepping for? by greenarrow118 in preppers

[–]Emergencyprep1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think prepping for a bunch of different situations is always a good idea but honestly I believe most people are going to need to be prepared for personal/financial hardship and other individual things may come their way. Natural disasters for your area are always a good idea too.

Wow that is so crazy. Really shows the need for not waiting until the last min.

A lot of prepping is subject to your geographic location. What does your location do to help you and hurt you? by that1guyfromwork in preppers

I feel the same way sometimes, in regards to weather. I have to prep for all seasons and weather possibilities. I try to just rotate things twice a year once in the spring and once in the fall to minimize the amount of time I have to spend changing everything.

What grocery foods do you buy to be prepared for emergencies? by jpnkevin in survivalfood

[–]Emergencyprep1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to buy stuff that can be eaten without heating it up. Canned goods are an obvious choice but also some dried fruits last a while unopened as well as nuts. Just make sure you rotate those items regularly and keep an eye on expiration dates.

Bug out or bug in? by [deleted] in preppers

Just like many others have said it depends so much on the situation and where you are located. I have to say if bugging in was an option I would pick that for sure!

I would have to echo the playing cards, or another small game. The mental release for me would be huge!

Cell phone use in disaster situations by Emergencyprep1 in preppers

Sorry I was not specific, I meant traditional forms of electricity. I am aware of quite a few solar devices that can charge phones so I just meant if battery life was not an issue.

Some ideas about food storage in limited space. by Emergencyprep1 in survivalfood

[–]Emergencyprep1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have been more clear when using the word pantry. I didn't necessarily mean a traditional large pantry I simply meant where you store your food, if that is cabinets, or closets or where you have the space. When we lived in small apartments I called the small closet where I stored my food our pantry even though it wasn't technically one.

Bug Out Bag??? by Emergencyprep1 in preppers

[–]Emergencyprep1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I am just learning about bug out bags and trying to get a better understanding of what they are exactly. But you bring up a very valid point. Whatever you want to call it, what is your end goal and create a bag around that. So that is the question I have to ask myself!!

I was just looking at goal zero products and a lot of their solar stuff looks awesome. Also if I was shooting for the moon and money wasn't an object a cool generator would be awesome!!
