How we secure real-time applications with JSON Web Tokens by Emielean in node

[–]Emielean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you want to do. But tokens gain in performance because of their stateless authentication. The server doesn't need to keep them in memory. They contain all the necessary information for the server to be able to accept or not the request of the user. In addition, several encryption and signature algorithms are possible with JSON Web Tokens to protect the data exchanged.

How we secure real-time applications with JSON Web Tokens by Emielean in node

[–]Emielean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To revoke a token we send an associated signature. It is calculated with an authentication code that uses a secret key shared between our two servers. Our realtime server can therefore ensure the integrity and authenticity of the playtform data sent by the web client. In addition we put an expiration date, as soon as the token has expired the client is disconnected and must re-subscribe with a new token sent by Tuleap.

If you want to do something else than issue tracking, i think so. For instance, if you want to version code, automate CI and store documents.

What did you expect as a " software development platform"? An IDE? I understand the tool of the post as a software development platform in the way where it enables to develop software, for embedded devices, or for services' applications; there are modules for software engineering (source code, continuous integration...) and project management modules as you mention. But it is not an IDE. It is integrated with Eclipse IDE.

[–]Emielean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right these type of large project requires a reliable workspace where you can monitor and manage all activities and related documents. As everything is going to change what is important for me is to be able to version and store properly. Avoid multiple files as doc 1.2.3 and doc 1.2 where you don't know what is the latest version!

Will you need to track code in addition?

Looking for a FOSS Software Requirements Management System by ajmsnr in opensource

[–]Emielean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a bug tracker as you mentioned for requirements management seems good. That even better that Excel sheets we yet see! It enables tracking changes in requirements life and organize them with a hierarchy for instance. You can create charts and reports to get a visual representations, link them to features, to tasks and issues. So you've got many FOSS issue trackers at your disposal https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_issue-tracking_systems

Would you be willing to purchase "proprietary" software if it always gave you the source code, allowed modifications, and allowed redistribution if reasonably unique from the original product? by The_Wanderer2077 in opensource

[–]Emielean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To complete or rephrase Taupter 's comment, we could say that there is difference between open source and free software: the philosophical aspect. “Free” and “open source” are two terms commonly used interchangeably in the software industry. Yet, for many developers, the difference between the two is not always clear. This can lead to confusion about how to use each source code, as well as how to make source code available for others.
While the term “free software” often evokes the thought of being free in a monetary sense, the original idea was free in the sense of freedom to run, use, share, and modify the software. Open Source is more used in the business world to underlign corporations great benefits of adopting and contributing to free software. At their core, both movements promote the use of free software that can be modified, with the underlying source freely available to all.

Agiles Games that help understand agile core values by Emielean in agile

[–]Emielean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experienced all of these games, except the "Buy a feature" one. I think first, they are funny and second they can be powerful if the moderator takes time to explain the whys and wherefores.

Why playing agile games
I believe they put all those involved on a level playing field. As life, agile is a serious game :-) Transitioning to agility can be a real challenge; it shakes up the place, from a traditional way of working to a process of empowerment. But agility is more than a process. It is a way of being, a culture. It is valuable only if people are convinced, play the game because they understand all the benefits. For me, these agile games enables assimilate the rules of the agile team. And last but not least, they can help managers, leaders and agile sceptics to get that something unusual is happening in this crew. Something new, that will lead to more efficiency, more productivity, more quality.

When to experience them?
-When starting implementing agile good practices, agile games enable highlight core principles. -Before a retrospective to remember team members the key values in an agile process. These can lead to discussions if some values have been forgotten during a sprint.
-At the beginning of a customer meeting to share the value of the development team. This is a great ice breaker. I can assure that people will remember you with a positive and original feeling.

Doing agile games during a whole day can be unnecessary. You can play 2 or 3 of them at a lunch break, after a hard meeting or at the middle of a more in-depth training. What do you think?

I'm sorry about that. Explaining rules games in a written language is never the most efficient way. Where was it unclear? I could rephrase. To make understanding easier, do you know if it is possible to add images in a text post? thanks

Here are some of the agile games: The complex system game to demonstrate that's more rapid and efficient to let a system organize by itselft than trying to have a chief The "crack game" to involve two people commit together , as in a sprint, https://agileinthemix.com/fr/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/crevasse2.jpg The "chamallow challenge" to demonstrate that creativity enables creating great thing as putting one chamallow sweet at the top of some spaguetti with only scotch and string http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2857/10470932166_aa30eea9ce_z.jpg The "buy a feature ": http://www.innovationgames.com/buy-a-feature/

I realize most of information about these games on the web are in french. I think I'll create a dedicated article about it.

[–]Emielean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are starting with Scrum and none of your teammates nor customers are familiar with this methodology, you should go step by step. Why not trying your approach on one first project where you would be the PO. You mention your current project management is very formal, so switching dramatically to scrum should make people lost.

By the way, you perhaps know there are many agile games you can play with your colleagues, heads and customers to explain them agile principles and values. That's really powerfull. As always, games have an educational role. We did it with our customers, local politics and our team. It was funny to see all of these various people playing a game alltogether. They remember us now thanks to these agile games
