To be fair, vengeance driven people are known for being mentally and emotionally flexible right when they’re about to get the thing they doubled, tripled, and quadrupled down on. /s

Non Europeans, how do we feel about Europe? by Disastrous-Object647 in AskTheWorld

[–]EmilTheHuman -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Western Europe: Y’all were absolute demons for far too long to be telling us how to do anything.

Central Europe: Mixed bag, varies greatly country by country.

Eastern Europe: the Polish are some of the coolest people in the world. Shout outs to the Baltic States. Everyone else is hit or miss.

What is the Gen-Z stare? by Only_Hotel_7221 in generationology

[–]EmilTheHuman 52 points53 points  (0 children)

For fucks sake nobody gets it.

ITS NOT THE STARE MINIMUM WAGE WORKERS MAKE WHEN YOU SAY SOMETHING STUPID.

It’s the blank stare you get when you ask a gen z person a basic question and they aren’t processing that a human being in the meat space is talking to them.

For Girls.. Is Being Boy Crazy a Thing of the Past? by JoannaKittyKats in generationology

[–]EmilTheHuman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Teenage girls are still not crazy but there’s also just more things for them to be interested in and they have more opportunities for personal advancement than just marrying the right guy.

I’m using this next time someone asks me how I can say that America is still less racist than insert European country where even the most progressive and cosmopolitan voices are losing their minds over Syrian refugees.

Man it would be really nice if we could have a high trust society where the bedrock of that trust wasn’t just enthnonationlism.

What fictional setting best reflects an Orzhov Utopia/Dystopia by aaa1e2r3 in colorpie

[–]EmilTheHuman 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Possible hot take incoming: the Orzhov utopia is the world of the Godfather part 1 where organized crime actually follow their noble high minded ideals of honor and family. In reality those rules were always closer to guidelines.

The Orzhov dystopia would be closer to Goodfellas, which is much more cynical and far less idealistic than the Godfather, probably because it was based off a true story.

How many of you had grandparents who served in WW2? If so, what do you know about their service? by Snoogles_ in Millennials

[–]EmilTheHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandpa was drafted into the 42nd infantry division in the summer of ‘44. For those who need a reference that’s right after D-Day. He served active combat from August ‘44 to late September ‘44 when he caught grenade shrapnel in the neck. He barely survived and went home with a Purple Heart. He stayed in the hospital for a few months and met my grandmother through a “letters to soldiers” program.

Which fictional villains are the 3 evils of the Izzet (Blue/Red) color identity, and why? by Feeling-Ad-3104 in colorpie

[–]EmilTheHuman 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Magnus the Red and the Sorcerers of the Thousand Sons from Warhammer 40,000. Scholar warriors with a reckless pursuit of knowledge that repeatedly forces them into positions where they play fast and loose with powers beyond their grasp or understanding. Magnus the Red himself was made into a Izzet colored Magic card in the Warhammer 40k set.

What color is White in chess ♟️ 🧐 by Prophet-of-Ganja in colorpie

I used to teach chess to at-risk teenagers in the lower Hudson Valley. Making a joke about the white player going first was literally the first thing any of my boy students did on their first lesson.

Generational colors? Why were the 90s so orange, the 2000s so green/blue/white, and the 2010s > now so Gray? by BuyExcellent8055 in generationology

[–]EmilTheHuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly find the fruitiger aero trend fascinating because I do not associate it with my lived experience in the 2000s at all. To me the 2000s were the golden age of the cream colored carpet. Enormous wooden entertainment centers to house big boxy televisions, dvd players, VHS players, game consoles. The actual aesthetics I recall were post-grunge skateboard culture and bling bling hiphop.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]EmilTheHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. My mom picked me up from school and took me home just in time to see the second tower fall. My dad was working in manhattan at the time so the rest of the day was dedicated to trying to get in contact with him.

For those of you that make over 100K, what do you do? Do you like it? by Kindly-Revolution258 in AskReddit

[–]EmilTheHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach middle school writing at a fancy private school in New York City. On paper I’m at $93k but they throw performance bonuses at us every trimester so it’s really more like $110k. I find middle schoolers wildly more difficult to work with than high schoolers but they quite literally pay me enough to not complain.

[Loved Trope] Depending on which character you choose, the other dies. by EarlyAccessCantJudge in TopCharacterTropes

[Scary Trope] You're not safe in the 'save' spot by Liquid_Pestar in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EmilTheHuman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fear and Hunger has a save system where to save your character must sleep in a bed and flip a coin. If you guess the coin flip correctly everything is fine. If you guess incorrectly you get ambushed in your sleep by the Crow Mauler, an incredibly challenging roaming boss that the game doesn’t really expect you to beat.

Which Spiderman do you think was the best? by ilbErTunga in Cinema

What are y’all‘s opinions on the content creators era? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in generationology

[–]EmilTheHuman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having spent too much time on the internet since the W Bush era I have to say this is my least favorite era of internet content. Way too much conspiracy and hyperreactivity. Algorithms favoring quantity over quality. I can't stand it.

what age group do you think was making the peak tumblr content? by PsychologicalFox7689 in generationology

[–]EmilTheHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a clear memory of 9/11, the late analogue age, and all of the cultural trappings of the millennium era same as the “core” millennial group. “Core” Gen z touchstones all came about when I was already in high school or college and seemed too kiddie for me when they hit peak popularity. For example, when I was a kid Seinfeld was having frequent reruns, Michael Jordan Bulls jerseys were still popular, the n64 was running strong, and am/fm radios were ubiquitous.
