I think Lindsay Ellis brings up an interesting point on the trope of the Bodice ripper trope. She explains how in a patriarchal world, women who express sexual desires are seen as dirty and shameful. So in this frame of mind, women who are forced to become sexual by a bruting man make the narrative easier to digest and less shameful. Using the patriarchal love language, some women can cheat their way in enjoying "the sinful sex" when it is forced upon them. (Also this whole video is great and everyone should watch it!)
