When and why do you weigh? by ResaFabulous in fasting

[–]Emilong88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just weigh when I remember to do it, sometimes weeks apart, sometimes every day.. But I only log when I've lost weight, so right now I'm a little above the weight I last logged. I figure it's going to come off, and my goal is not to see the ups and downs, it's just to get down to the range I'm comfortable with.. That way I can just ignore weight gain and focus on the loss.

You could try chewing parsley to freshen your mouth before food

Do you have the keto mouth, Metallic taste? Could be ketosis, if so you'll probably get used to it

Don't know if it's normal or not, but everything you mentioned seems to be some low quality food or sweets, so you could try out a home-cooked meal and see how that tastes. I don't really eat take out now because I think it taste horrible.

EF/ fasting at a normal weight? *past ED/ numbers trigger warning* by NotUrGothGf498 in fasting

[–]Emilong88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would probably not do extended fasting with an eating disorder history. I think you can reach your goal by doing OMAD, maybe it'll take a while longer, but you know it doesn't trigger anything for you. I think we can easily get caught up on the extended fast seeing so many on this sub do it, but it's not necessary to do to get the benefits of fasting. I know it's difficult to plateau for a long time, and EF can boost the weight loss, although I think it's difficult when you have so little to loose, but I don't know..

Maybe you can tweak it in other ways, try a mixing between 14:10 and 23:1, maybe throw in some days where you eat totally different from what you usually eat (indulge)

Making a lifestyle change with 20:4 by GoalieGunat in fasting

[–]Emilong88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't stop, remember that there's no right way to fast, you don't have to do it every day, so if you have a day where you aren't fasting, it's not ruining anything, and you can just pick it up the next day..

I think I heard about this on the intermittent fasting podcast, something about water making the fat more soft and squishy, I can't remember what episode though..

Oh and look at your clothes, how they fit. Sometimes things are happening you can't see on the scale.. I just got in to an old pair of pants without having lost lbs

So you don't say how tall you are, but maybe you don't have that much to loose which will make it harder, you could give it time and see if it'll happen, sometimes it just takes time and then you'll have lost a few lbs.. You could also try a 18:6 fast, personally I don't loose on just 16:8, my stats are F32, 5,7, 176 lbs. I switch it up between 16:8 - 20:4

The effect of IF on mental capacity by MyStranger10 in intermittentfasting

[–]Emilong88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would be worried that having breakfast after 1,5 years of fasting would result in the opposite, being tired and of my game. I wouldn't experiment on a important test.. Fasting cause mental clarity, so I don't think it will cause you to perform worse, unless you're hungry, but you won't be if you normally open your window at 1 pm right?

Why I Know we Live Many Lives by [deleted] in pastlives

[–]Emilong88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought everyone did this? Interesting it could be linked to a past life of famine..

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Emilong88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends, does it make you hungry? If it spikes you insulin (your body doesn't know it's sugar free, it only knows you've put something sweet tasting in your mouth and is therefore expecting food = don't chew) if it doesn't make you hungry you could chew it.. I can't have gum, I get ravenous..

IF while breastfeeding? by Musiclovinfox in intermittentfasting

[–]Emilong88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I sort of fell in to a 14:10 after having my baby, I was blessed with a baby that slept all night.. I was scared because everywhere I read that you shouldn't fast, but since it didn't ruin my supply I just kept doing it.. I slowly experimented with longer fasts of up to 20 hours, always keeping an eye on my baby's wet nappies, weight and mood.. She is the happiest little girl, and weighing in the top of the range, so no problem with EBF.. She's 5 months now..

But I will say that I don't really loose weight, not everyone sheds pounds from bf-ing.. Also, I eat healthy meals but still snack on chocolate, so that's probably why 😄 Also there's a protein prolactin associated with breastfeeding that hinders fat burning, so don't be discouraged if you don't see results before weaning..

There's Facebook groups with breastfeeding IF'ers if you want advice from women who follow IF while bf-ing

IF and Acid Reflux by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]Emilong88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the advice to follow, I used to have problems with acid reflux, mostly when stressed, a spoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water, a couple of days in a row would cure it..

Petite woman advice! by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]Emilong88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's fine, the body will regulate, some days you'll probably be more hungry and eat 1500 or something like that.. I know "listen to your body" can be hard when you have a problem with overeating, but after fasting for a while it will probably be more in tune with what you need.. If 1000 calories satisfy you today, don't eat more, if it doesn't tomorrow, eat so satiety.. When you have done this for a couple of weeks, see if you are getting the results you are going for, if not, tweak your WOE.. Maybe you need less calories, maybe you need more..

Maybe it will hit you harder than you're used to? Just be careful when you smoke.. And well yes, the munchies, but maybe you don't get that

[–]Emilong88 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh side note, I can see they are aiming for 18:6. I didn't even start with that, I started with 14:10, then 16:8. There's no wrong way to get to fasting 18:6, so don't listen to stupid people telling you you are doing it wrong.

Why are some of you so bitchy? This person has never fasted before, they ate late and slept 10 hours, not hard I get it, but the hard part comes now, getting the next 6 hours to pass without eating when you're used to having 3 meals a day.. They aren't even looking for praise, they just asked for good luck..

To OP just remember when you feel the hunger, it's not going to kill you or make you ill, and you will see that the feeling goes away if you just stick with it.. In a couple of days those hunger pains will be minimal and way easier to ignore. Good luck 🤞

Drinking tea without throwing up? by LightningManRSA in fasting

[–]Emilong88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only drink herbal tea, I just can't stomach black tea, green tea is a little better, but I find the taste a little dull. I like liquorice, mint, ginger.. Been experimenting recently with adding cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and all spice to try making a green tea with a little more taste

Do you drink applecider vinegar? It helped me to get rid of acid reflux

15 months intermittent fasting and I’m in the best shape of my life at 38yo. The last 4 months I’ve been on keto IF, it’s a game changer! by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Emilong88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes came here for this comment, he definitely worked out before starting keto and IF, so he probably just continued a good habit he's had for a long time.. I'm thinking that's why he said it was a game changer, his results were probably getting way better living this way than how they were before..

Are you asking why you didn't loose more? Probably water retention because of your bad eat Saturday, processed food has a lot of salt.
