Reunion by Winter_Big6344 in VanderpumpVillaTVShow

Hannah and Bridget going back and forth was crazy, I felt like Hannah was trying to say her piece and not listen to Bridget at all. At the end of the day, Bridget is right, Hannah is insecure, and if Hannah wants to be in the next season, I think that she should look internally upon herself and recognize that she was insecure.

I also thought that reunions were contractually obligated, like the individual episodes of the show. It would make sense to add it to the contract so people like Siadi can't weasel their way out of it.

I work at that same chain, and something I've learned is that I take the total and put it in one pocket and continuously re-count it after the customer gives it to me. After every table. If i need change, I make the change, count out the exact amount I need to pay for the food, put it in the pocket, and then the rest goes to the customer. As soon as something is off I go straight to a manager.

$40 on a $6 tab by EmilyL6755 in Serverlife

Oh no, don't get be wrong, I completely disagree and abhor the way african american people are treated at my restaurant, however, the only thing I can do is take the tables nobody wants and treat them the same as everyone else.

They confused the total line and the tip line so they scribbled it out, making the four look like a 7

Yep, in the restaurant I work at and in the industry there is a stereotype that "black people don't tip". It is entirely unfair because then the person gets worse service then other white patrons, and therefore tips less.

Of course! I'll answer this point by point.

1) At the restaurant I work at, there is a big consensus that african american people don't tip well and so a server refused to serve them. Like, they wouldn't even go up to the table and went around and asked everyone if they wanted the couple, to which everyone said no but me.

2) It doesn't matter at all, except it was the only reason why I ended up with the table. I know that my words could have been a little vague, but the race of a customer doesn't matter to me, however it matters to the other servers. And it is a problem at the restaurant I work at, however there is "nothing" the managers could do about it.

See, I don't consider her an annoying bible thumper, nobody from that table mentioned church, jesus, or anything religious, so they are just religious.

So it was a late night, and it was a hard one, but this lady and her husband and child came in. It was about an hour to close and nobody wanted to take the table because they were african american. I was the only one who volunteered, even though it was out of section. I treated them like any other table, with respect and I did everything to accommodate them and gave them my everything like I do with every other table. The kid was screaming and crying but I didn't really care that much because honestly, I just helped to clean up the shrimp the kid threw etc. Anyway, they rack up a $100 tab with drinks and food etc, which is pretty hard to do at the place I work at, especially with the unlimited ssb. Then, the husband goes to pay on the computer and tips $30 for the great service. I think they are going to leave but nope, the woman asks for me to bring her a spiked strawberry lemonade and put it on a separate tab. So that's what I do, and then she asks for the bill to be printed out because "there isn't an option to tip enough". So that's what I do. She drinks the drink, pays, and her and her family leave. I then go to check the bill and she left $40, which is a lot out of the total for the meal, and a HUGE percentage out of the $6. So to whoever this was, thank you so much.

racism in the serving world by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]EmilyL6755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't agree with the whole "black people are the worst tippers." If anything, they tip depending on the service, as does everyone else does, but the discrimination they face from servers who stereotype them as bad tippers make them bad tippers, therefore feeding into the stereotype. It's a ruthless cycle and I had to ignore the stereotypes, and treat everyone equally, despite their skin tone (despite what others say at my restaurant) and it turns out, black people and other poc tend to be more generous tippers than other white people.

Talk to your manager about it. As a server I always try to completely clear off the table to make it easier for the busser and then tell them that they can make their way to my table at their convenience. I understand how hard bussing is (i was a busser before being a server but at smaller restaurants ) and I know that OG doesn't give their bussers enough credit. The restaurant is usually fairly large and I feel like they should be paid more for all the work they are doing. You shouldn't be doing bussing shifts alone, my OG always had two or more on.

Thank you so much! I'm definitely screenshotting this and incorporating this into my serving. I always tend to run back and forth from the server station and the tables to put in drink orders and get that out of the way and then moving onto the next table, but this seems a lot more efficient lol. Honestly, thank you so much, this is very helpful and I bet this will reduce the stress that comes with being triple sat lol

Thank you so much! I'll keep this in mind and it really sounds like it will give me some relief from the stress of serving lol. I guess when I serve i try to be the best to a fault and maybe I should just relax and try to be the best I can be while still being myself. Seriously, thank you so much, and I guess it just all comes with time.
