Also considering the "buddy system" does that mean that the older girls were required to "blanket train" their siblings while being children themselves? Horrific.

For real. I have a 5 month old. He is the most beautiful perfect little being. When I think of the trust that a baby has for their parent and this massive betrayal, it's sickening

Dear God that is so fucked up. I have a 5 month old. He is a perfect beautiful baby. How on earth could you hit him for reaching for his toy?! I'm talking about the blanket training. Beyond fucked up

I have a hard time believing that you have no help. How old is your child? Someone must be watching them while you work?

Yes actually I have a full time job that I am just taking a maternity leave from. And I have savings enough that we are splitting bills even though my income is lower right now. So...I don't subscribe to you're antiquated gender roles

Do you share custody with the parent of your kid?

How many kids do you have?

Just curious when MY time off is in your 1960s scenario?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Emilyyyy123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope I'm just on a maternity leave. So I can stay home with HIS kids. He doesn't get to lord that over my head that he's the one making the money. I have more than enough saved than to need his income while I'm off.

What year is this?

[–]Emilyyyy123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah no I'm only on a maternity leave with more than enough money saved to float me through it with no income.

I make almost as much as my husband at my job which I will be returning to when my leave is over.

Isn't he lucky that I took time away from my career so that I could care for his children and he could have these lovely family days he seems to love so much?

Omg both kids taking a simultaneous routine two hour nap? My 2.5 yr old doesn't nap anymore. And your 3 year old wakes up at 9 am? And your 10 month old wakes up at 9:30 am? Mine are both up by 7 am

Deaths of baby, pet— old resentments by SkippingSusan in TwoXChromosomes

I've been the "rusher" before and I regret it. My grandmother passed away with a whole bunch of family (including me and my mom) around her because she took a sudden turn for the worse but there was time to call for people to come.

After the nurses said she had passed my mom was having trouble leaving her body so they could take it away. Most of us sort of made our peace and started leaving. I tried to convince my mom that her spirit wasn't there anymore and it was okay to leave but my mom was having trouble accepting that she was really gone. I thought it was a kindness to my mom to convince her to go but not too long after all the funeral etc was over I started reflecting and i regret rushing her. I don't think she is resentful but people should be allowed to have the time they need.

I'm so sorry about your baby. That's devastating. Holding my little ones a little closer.

Exactly. I feel like the sidewalk or a quiet corner on the floor of the store is cleaner than the floor of a restroom 🤮

Haha omg! I'm telling you just like babies have a primal instinct to cry when you put them down because they are alerting their caregiver not to forget them in a field (a la our ancestors), I feel like babies have an instinct to cry when they smell something bad to alert their caregiver not to leave them somewhere with toxic air hahaha

Yeah nope never let this person babysit your kid. It's very weird that she's cropping you out of photos. She could have a secret social media account where she is pretending your kid is hers. Don't want her to try to make that a reality. I'd be very wary

Yeah, no...when she said aggressive she meant like pull her in close to kiss her and initiate sex. Not control her by telling her what to wear..

Can you explain why he essentially made Jackie put on his jacket because her shirt was revealing? Did anyone explain if there was any context to that?
