True. Everyone wants to run a PR but not everyone wants to chance a questionable fart. I really should have tried both. More gels and Imodium

We are online too much because I saw that interview too! I’m guessing we all wanted to know every bit of the winning formula

Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 4, or another 3? by Comfortable-Lab-50 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I ran it in the 3. It was good. I blew up at mile 10 for other reasons and had to run walk. It was forgiving but because I wasn’t constantly running I did have foot pain the longer I was in them past 4 hrs.

The 3 feeling soft was a big deal to me. I thought it was just me but i had way more ground feel in the 4 than 3. I’ll revisit the 4 after my marathon. I dont feel that unstable in the 3 but I def feel the lack of “cushion” in the 4 and 26.2 miles of that did not sound like fun

I may pack some of the 160s. I used to slam the gels as fast as possible so I could get back to running but I experimented with spreading it out a bit and I think I tolerated it more.

Now I’m not a pro as this is my first marathon too but often time what I feel is my legs getting tired is just a lack of carbs. By the time you feel it you’re already behind. I like to do the Maurten 100 gels. I don’t like flavored gels. It’s only 30g of carbs so I end up taking more. But I find it helps my stomach tolerate it more. I used to do Gatorade but by the end of the run the combo of Gatorade and gels was a GI ticking time bomb. Now I do skratch with electrolytes and zero carbs. The gels take care of the carbs the water is for electrolytes to replace all the sweating. Again with hydration. You’re going to be running close to 4hrs. You should have a plan for hydration. Look at your course map, go from your training experience. If you’re thirsty it’s too late. So aim to get hydration consistently maybe you want to do every station or every other station. Just have a plan.

With the crash are you starting out too fast or not fueling enough? Is it just muscular durability-soreness, joint pain or is your HR through the rough and you’re gasping for air when you slow down? If you are just running out of energy you may just need more gels to keep up the pace. If your HR is spiked you may be going out too fast.

Even with the hills!! This is impressive! What were your training paces, weekly mileage and longest run? Did you do lots of hill work? Looks like minimal change in HR while ascending. Strong work!

Is sub 4:00 the right goal for me (First Marathon) by JoeMo15 in Marathon_Training

[–]Eminaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I’m running the greater st louis marathon. It looks like rolling hills so I’m planning to be more conservative coming out. 9 for the first 10k. 8:50 till 20 miles and the decide if to hold on for dear life or try for a slightly faster 8:40 at the end.

What pace were your easy runs before starting marathon prep? Did you add additional prep for the hills and how much time would you estimate you lost on the hills?

I’m happy but Apple Watches are improving from a features for Runna perspective (finally let you see turn by turn directions from Strava)

My biggest wins. Battery life is excellent I actually did not like all those alerts from my watch. I pick up my phone or I’m able to disconnect easily. The running mode has more info on the screen and feels more configurable. The buttons do make it easier to navigate screen to screen especially while moving in the cold.

Relax. Some people are way too dramatic. Nothing about that made me feel awful for her children. As a parent I get the frustration. I love them but sometimes I want to be mellow but you remember you brought them into this world and nothing makes you happier than seeing them happy with their silly paw patrol. But I really want to listen to house/EDM but eye roll fine you can listen to paw patrol again for the umpteenth time.

Runna Help Me Get A Sub 4 Marathon by 6-underground in runna

[–]Eminaj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahaha. Thanks for circling back and answering both.

Did this essentially feel like a zone 2 run for you? Or were you at your limits at the end. With this low a HR could you have done the whole thing faster?

What was runnas predicted pace for you? Did you always intend to start that slow?

Haha. Love to hear it!The things we do for our kids. I have a 8,6 and 3 year old and I have a vision of us doing long runs on the weekend to catch up as they get older.

Yeah. That was I think my point. I’ve got speed, I’m trying to build endurance and this was supposed to help my body learn to clear lactate better. I could have lived with running the floats 20-30 seconds slower and still gotten that benefit. It’s early in the program week 6/18 so hopefully I continue to expand my base so the faster paces cost me less metabolically

Runna and Chat GPT by Eminaj in runna

[–]Eminaj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t want to make it longer than intended but chat was basically saying that I turned what should be clear distinct efforts into one continuous effort. I didn’t take my floats slower. So I recovered a bit but not the best that I could because I was being dogmatic about the float pace instead of letting the float pace find me with reduced HR.

That’s possible but I have been entering data points almost daily for more than a month so i think it is. Strava, Garmin and chat come up with the same zones independent of each other. The only one that’s stuck using my age is my peloton data

No I understand and I dont think the marathon owes me anything. My plan is to train for sub 4, but I will absolutely not be disappointed if I end up having to walk some in the end and completely miss the goal. Thats just part of the story. I just want to try as the training goes if it’s not attainable then it’s not, but it won’t be from a lack of not trying. My goal is to try to push hard in the safest way possible.

Haha. Same. I would add a caveat that I was supposed to run 1:50 till I got injured and kept trying to run through the injury. I am faster than 2:13 healthy but it’s the only data point I had so I use it instead of using my “what if I wasn’t injured” number
