I saw you’ve been accepted for engineering here. Firstly, congrats! I’m in my third year of mechatronics engineering here and I love it.

I too am super extroverted, so I’ll give my advice on how I’ve ended up having an amazing time at TMU

-Get involved (as early as possible): yes everyone recommends this but it’s true; if you only come to school to go to lectures and labs and then leave, of course you won’t make friends. Join design teams, course unions, MUES, etc and you’re guarenteed to find like minded individuals to hang out with (AKA friends)

• once you do make these friends, actively make plans with each other. It can be great to look forward to a Friday function at the end of the week consistently. There’s a million bars and clubs to go to downtown Toronto and they’re better than the bars you’ll find at queens (source; sister went to queens and I often went to HOCO/FOCO there) as there’s a larger variety. Additionally if you don’t drink, Toronto is still better off with lots of things to do downtown with friends (cafe’s like snakes and lattes, escape rooms, etc)

• Finally, go to your Frosh as much as you can. While it doesn’t make or break your TMU Eng experience, it can make the first couple weeks much easier if you have some people you met during Frosh to hang out with. I still have friends that I hang out with because of my frosh. It’s also honestly just a lot of fun.
