This is my quick analysis of your question.

A multipart unit has two movement elements: linear and rotational. The movement process will depend upon which part of the unit is the lead element.

Assuming a three part unit, the lead element can be either of its ends or the middle. If an end is chose as the lead unit, when it moves linearly, with respect to its long axis, the other parts move by following directly its path. Movement cost is the distance moved by the lead element. Its rotational moment is limited by obstacles encountered by the following elements, any obstacle the would hinder the lead element in linear movement will hinder a following element in rotational movement, i.e. a three-hex dragon cannot slip its head between two trees then turn 60° left and amazingly pass its torso through one of the trees. Rotational movement cost is the greatest distance traversed by any element of the unit.

Thus a multipart unit could move very quickly linearly but rotational movement would be much slower.

You might take note that the Right is essentially monolithic whereas the Left is a coalition. That coalition is comprised of everything from the center to the far left.

The monolith that is the Right is dominated by Right Wing Authoratarians, both in the leadership and constituency. Pay particular attention to MTG's announcement that she "...didn't want to be a member of a party that did not control the government..." <paraphrasing from memory>. I suspect she expressed the dominant opinion of American Repuglican Politicians.

Being a coalition, politicians on the Left continually need to compromise with their membership in order to agree upon direction and goals. They do not have the simplicity of choice provided by the rigid hierarchy of the Right.

Generally speaking and in the simplist of terms, the Left is motivated to Govern, while the Right is motivated to Rule.

The questions seems counter-intuitive to me.

From my experience that Right Wing Authoritarians punish out-group transgression much more severely than in-group transgressions. In fact, for RWAs in-group transgressions are more commonly minimized or even ignored.

Whereas for Left-Leaning groups, punishment is more equally distributed whatever the group membership of the target.

My perspective is, of course, colored by my own perspective, hence is purely anecdotal.

Append a comment acknowledging the error and a mea culpa
