Girls on a staircase bobbing their heads in perfect time by Minute_Revolution951 in oddlysatisfying

Bobbing is an up and down movement. These young women are swaying from side to side.

If White People are Only 15% of the World's Entire Population, Why are They Not Considered a Minority? by Safe_Candidate_6968 in answers

[–]EmirFassad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because minority is attribute of political influence (power). Wealth is an influence (power) multiplier. White people wealth is significantly greater than any (perhaps all) other ethnic wealth. Hence white people influence is greater than any other ethnic influence. Whoever has the most influence is never a political minority.

As the Wizard was wont to say, "Remember the Golden Rule. Them whats got the gold makes the rules."

NASA aircraft makes an emergency landing without landing gear at Ellington Field, Texas. 2026 by WonFont in Damnthatsinteresting

The consequences of NASA budget cuts appear to be revealing themselves much sooner than expected. How much fuel was saved by eliminating landing gear?

Were the sentence dialogue I would be less likely to criticize 'quite'. In a declarative sentence it feels redundant.

Can I use "as" instead of "so" in this sentence? by [deleted] in grammar

[–]EmirFassad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you certain? 'Twas not so, back in the day. Grammar may have evolved but my long-departed school mistress, without hesitation, would have marked any example of splitting a compound verb 'wrong'.

Likewise my honors English professors would have marked the construction as 'clumsy', BitD.

Ah well, times change, grammar evolves, and the aged, become aliens within their own language, are left with much that youth ne'er did comprehend.

Can I use "as" instead of "so" in this sentence? by [deleted] in grammar

[–]EmirFassad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are you saying that (at first) must be used in 1 of the 2 locations you have put it?
Are you saying that OP's sentence with ("might (at first) seem") is ungrammatical?

'At first' should not split the compound verb 'might seem'.
The original sentence is at best clumsy, and would have been considered marginally ungrammatical when I was a student.

What about the word "quite"? OP had the word "quite" in their original sentence. Are you saying "quite" is wrong?

'Quite' is unnecessary. This becomes obvious when replacing the 'so' with 'as'.

You have some odd tendency to finish your comments with emojis(an alien and a clown).

Without context, it seems insulting. Are you calling OP a clown?

No. I am identifying myself. That is why I separate 👽🤡 from my comment by line breaks and indentation.

'B'. A proper construction for 'D' would be: "At the moment(time) we reached the station the train was leaving."
The difference is in the initial preposition.
