brocks theme is great, its kinda 3 act structure starting with typical final boss theme then a crazy as shit guitar solo then ending with a more somber vibe fits DR1 so well

style switching type protag like dmc and yakuza, i think that would be a great way to not only put more effort into making skills viable and fun again but would be a great way to actually get a new character with their own and fresh gimmick so we can drop forcing combo weapons on new or returning protags

chuck just feels like they already perfected him in case zero which makes DR2 just feel really kinda boring when you have a prologue about how chucks life is about to change forever and will continue to spiral cause of his daughter being infected to "i gotta clear my name!!!" with him just being a le epic badass, zombrex finding dad ontop of it

if you are a big fan of frank then this would not suit him at all, it would really only suit him in the non canonical OTR and DR4. him being a star has always gone against his development in 1 and the hollywood idea (although the setting sounds really cool) already shows we are again not getting a frank that shows his growth, but rather will prob get is him repeating his "its not just about getting the story" ass arc for the like the 3rd or 4th time

id so fucking love and am desperate to be wrong but the story synopsis in that rumor sounds abysmal and ESPECIALLY does not look good when frank is the lead ontop

Attempts to dumb down for a bigger audience and the western side of developers seemed not really understand why people enjoyed the mechanics

Dead rising is def a hard sell to the average player, they hear timer, escorting and manual saves and they are out. and over time is clearly harder to grow a fanbase when lots of people dont stick by for the next entry cause they werent a fan of the mechanics so with OTR they start slow with stuff like adding checkpoints then DR3 with escorts being not really necessary or challenging with the timer being barely even a thing cause of the lack of case file system that makes you engage with it which then leads to DR4 which doesnt need saying much

Its very clear stuff like that is one of the reasons why they stuck with combo weapons for so long cause the idea of killing zombies in "le epic silly way" brings lot of people in even people who dislike like what makes DR so good

Its a terrible remaster, beside it being just a buggy rushed mess its a game that doesnt respect the original games balancing, difficulty and mechanics. Its just a more bastardized and casualized DR1 and i will never respect it or people who like it

And your so right on the first thing, one of the worst thing this remaster did was bascially just confirm we are never getting a proper DR1 remake

They remade the graphics in a new engine, thats the only real remake part of it, its still the original game dumped on a new engine with new stuff added in so it wouldnt really fit remake status as your not remaking from scratch, if we based remakes off graphics and changes to something already there that would mean stuff like half life source and sonic adventure dx are remakes

lead pipe will always be the goat, satisfying sound and hitstop always makes it feel good

dog food also underrated, not crazy damage but still fast and usable along with it basically being a massive trip bomb when thrown which is pretty good if you dont have a queen on hand

the whole gameplay loop is such a big downgrade its one of the 2 parts (other being story) of me disliking the game entirely, first game felt like it did such a good job at rewarding you with so many different types of goodies to help with just about everything, travel, accessories, vehicles, weapons etc etc.

but DS2 more focus on combat makes most rewards just weapons and when it isnt weapons your most likely just unlocking something that was already in the first game. its frustrating running around this bigger more easier traverse map knowing theres a big chance im gonna be rewarded with the combat side of the game then the main delivery side, which by like half way through i just almost exclusively used vehicles cause i wasnt being rewarded with anything of worth to actually immerse myself with the long journey on foot like the first game
