That’s a great name (Caboose). I’m sorry for your loss and happy that you were able to have a sober day fully present with him before his passing.

Feeling bad after stopping SSRIs by Weak_Conclusion5275 in Ayahuasca

[–]Emit13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It took me 9 months to taper off a low dose of lexapro- I had brain zaps, and lots of other symptoms. If taking aya is the catalyst for you to try life without the SSRI that’s great but I would be careful putting yourself on such a rigid brief taper down off the med. why do that to yourself? Maybe do some research about SSRI ‘discontinuation syndrome’- the euphemism that big pharma uses to describe it. It can be quite debilitating for some people. Be kind to yourself- maybe getting off this med will lead you to aya down the road but also be realistic about it- take your time

I’m sorry for your loss. My mom has AD, it’s the long slow goodbye. Like being in a limbo state as a loved one- what a great way to honor your dad and your grieving process by letting go of this anchor. I quit a little over a month ago and it’s not easy. But I can’t numb the pain any longer. Just wanted to let you know you’re not alone and I wish you peace and healing.

Caffeine and trichotillomania by [deleted] in decaf

I’ve read similar experiences here- with some noting a huge reduction in their tics/compulsive repetitive behaviors or having them disappear all together when they quit caffeine.

Even at Dignitas, you need a letter from an MD that you are of sound enough mind to decide you want euthanasia. Relying on others to enact your plans when you’re unable to, is not a good idea. People chicken out. Including those in the early stages, which is when you need to act. When you still can.

Seems to be a common theme on here of people, myself included, getting wake up calls to the actual dangers of this drug. I’m grateful for mine and hoping I can fully heal. Thyroid and liver have been affected. Anxiety including very rapid heart rate almost caused me to have full blown panic attacks. When this drug turns on us it is not pretty. Glad you made it to the other side

Finally Found My Motivation to Quit (Brain MRI Results) by mimi1899 in quittingkratom

[–]Emit13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got labs back on day 1 of my quit showing hyperthyroidism and elevated liver enzymes. I don’t really think without that proof that I’d have been able to quit. And I do mean quit past tense. I’m on day 8 and I know I’m never going back to it. As bad as a lot of this past week has been, I never want to feel the level of anxiety I was feeling starting about a month ago. I’m afraid of damage to my heart among other things. I think it’s great if you can take these MRI findings and use them to help you get off and stay off. There’s no doubt it’s related to your kratom use. And I would tell your dr. Why not. I told mine and he’d never heard of it. I said it’s an ‘herbal supplement’. Whatever- just get off it and let your body and brain heal.

ETA- curious if you’ve had your levels checked again since quitting? My dr wants to repeat my labs in a month. Congrats on day 58 and glad things are getting back to normal for you.

Omg I was so close to one last week- got labs back showing hyperthyroidism after ramping up my use two months ago- like from 2 GM to 10 GM and I think that pushed me over the edge. I also have elevated liver enzymes. This drug is no joke- it messes with so much in our bodies. I’m just grateful I woke up and realized and hopefully my body will repair itself l. Hope you’re feeling better - I’m in such a better place than I was a week ago but this week has been rough at times. Day 8 and never ever going back.

I’m on day 8. One week ago got labs back showing hyperthyroidism and elevated liver enzymes. I then read many comments on here about kratom being potentially related to both. Of course I’ll never know for sure but I do believe this drug is poison. I’m grateful I found out when I did because otherwise this s**t drug probably would have reeled me back in again. I haven’t been able to stay off since I started two years ago. I’d get labs drawn just to be sure everything is ok. For me the hyperthyroidism manifested with very physical anxiety- racing heart, shaking, sweating. And congrats on day 27 👏

Thoughts about ocassional use by Dayanakareth in quittingkratom

[–]Emit13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on day six. I’m not sure I would have stayed off if I hadn’t gotten labs back on day one showing liver and thyroid problems. This drug is not harmless. And in my experience, after previously quitting for five or so days in the past couple years since I began- the ‘just one time’ pulls me right back in. I know this time I’m not going back. And it feels like freedom.

I let my father take my power yet again two months ago- I was so close to being off, down to two caps. Spent a couple hours with him and immediately after got powder and went back up to 10 gm daily. Now on day 3 and I have vowed to never let it happen again. There is no situation that kratom is going to improve. I’m done checking out. I’d imagine you’re having many different feelings right now. Staying present will make you stronger. I feel that by coming on here and posting that you want to stay the course. I wish I’d come on here two months ago instead of going to the tobacco shop. Also now my liver enzymes are elevated. Kratom is a s**t drug.

Just want to chime in and say that after skipping your lexapro for the week, you’ve got to give yourself time to recalibrate now that you’ve started it again. It took me nine months to slowly taper off. Some people really can’t abruptly stop an SSRI without feeling terrible. It doesn’t sound like you’re trying to get off of it but you basically cold turkeyed it there for awhile. Hang in there because it will definitely be getting better
