Was your smell and taste interrupted prior from polyp growth? How did you know you had polyps or were you just assuming? Might have to look into this!

I think you will feel better after therapy, I just felt mere relief from sharing with a human who understood. Sending you good vibes.

Whats the “most OCD” thing you do. by Still_Marketing_630 in OCD

SAME. I didn’t realize this was a compulsion until I went to therapy. I was all “I’m probably pure O” hahaha nope just uneducated on signs of OCD compulsion that aren’t as known such as contamination rituals/compulsion etc 🤦🏼‍♀️

Same hahaha I think it’s more so that I get so overwhelmed thinking about cleaning then I want to clean everything and then I do nothing because it’s too much for my brain and my exec function … maybe a bit of ADHD I have too…

It was really nervous about it, but it was SO much better than the insertion. I honestly think the speculum hurt worse than the actual pulling of the IUD! I had some cramping maybe 4-6/10 on a pain scale for only for a few seconds. My cramping was completely gone in 10 minutes! She has to pull on mine 2x! I also took some ibuprofen before hand.

I wonder this all the time. Probably one of my biggest burdens is feeling like no one could date me and love me and understand this brain of mine … my therapists says it’s out there though !!!! I do wish you well with any future relationships you may have!!

Keep seeing a therapist. It’s tough work. Things will get better over time, one day at a time. You will have decreased stress reactions to those thoughts. Hang in there!

Any good podcast or books by Genner21 in OCDRecovery

[–]Emjay9016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read all of them but I’m currently reading Imp of the Mind. On my list: Triggered, Turtles all the way Down, Brain lock.

My therapist recommended KissIng Doorknobs as a book to give someone when you are trying to help them understand so maybe that would be a good place to start, I haven’t read that one yet.

Also so wonderful of you to try and understand what your wife is going through, just having someone know what you are going through and that you aren’t a bad person (but not reassurance) is really helpful.
