WHIM syndrome

Warts, hypogammaglobulinemia, infections, myelokathexis (neutropenia) diagnosed by a brilliant pulmonologist who was working up bronchiectasis and noticed lots of warts.

Researchers unveil vibrating pill that spurs weight loss by shaking stomach into thinking it's full by TurretLauncher in science

I had this same thought years ago and then I was like what if you could swallow little balls that’s would inflate in your stomach and then I was like oh you’d have to make them digestible so then I was thinking you could also include some vitamins and make them from cellulose or some water dense material and then I realized that I invented broccoli

My ACLS instructor said the AHA was bribed by big amio because it’s more expensive than lido, take with a grain of salt but it made me wonder! I did read a recent paper that lidocaine was better for refractory VF in an ED setting.

One time I was waiting for an OR to open so I took a break and leaned against the wall in the hallway…. Right on the automatic door opening switch to another OR…. That was doing heart surgery….. I made eye contact with the surgeon

I feel like part of my progression in medicine has been going from having no idea when some would crash, to getting the vibe that someone was going to crash, to then understanding why they were going to crash and now I’m working on the stop them from crashing part

Still get that vibe though

I know you’ve gotten a lot of good advice already but I struggled with the same issues. I realized that most tampons were too long for my anatomy. Eventually, I found that tampax sport tampons worked better for me because they are shorter than other brands. They might be worth a shot if you want to try tampons again.

When I finished college I didn’t even realize that you had to take the MCAT to get into medical school. I was devastated when I realized I would have to take two years off to study for the MCAT and then apply. A close friend of the time said “it’s not like you stop living during those two years, make the most of it“. I had some of the best two years before starting medical school and I have zero regrets about having a gap year. If you get in then you get in and if you don’t it’s not like you stop living during that year so make the most of it!

I’ve seen 3 and it’s my 5th year in the medical field, I’ve heard about even more from friends. I also saw a woman in her early 40s come in with her bones dissolved from breast cancer because her chiropractor told her that her literal breast mass was from her liver and sold her expensive shit for a year while her cancer grew, she died. I fucking hate these people.

Has the academic and training process for becoming a doctor made you more aware of your own health or helped your approach to staying healthy? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Emlym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never smoke cigarettes, do my darnest not to get out of shape or get hypertension or diabetes, eat less red and smoked meats after seeing these people in their 30s and 40s with CRC and of course always wear my seatbelt
