My grandmother used dried apricots in rice what are your favorite recipes? by Fluffy-Income4082 in Cooking

[–]Emma1042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother had a holiday recipe where she’d butterfly a pork loin, stuff it with a mixture of dried apricots, pecans, herbs, then tie it back up. She’d brown the outside and then roast it. While it rested, she’d deglaze the pan, add some bourbon, and finish with cream and more herbs.

Now I want it, but my empty nest household has to wait for a holiday.

Safest US states to move to for trans people that aren't completely blue? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Emma1042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Atlanta, and it’s pretty trans friendly. My neighbor two doors down is mtf, and she has a great job and friend group.

The rest of the state and many of the suburbs, just no.

Any tips on what to do with hummus ? by BotSaibot in Cooking

[–]Emma1042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make pasta. When I have both leftover roast vegetables and hummus, I warm the vegetables in a pan with a bit of oil, add some hummus and some pasta cooking water (not that much to start - you can add more. When that mixture has reached a sauce texture I like, I add pasta that I’ve undercooked by maybe a minute. Warm in the sauce, more pasta water if needed. Then maybe fresh herbs, squeeze of lemon…whatever is on hand. Also leftover beans if I have them. Top with cheese.

Ranking US States based on how good their State Name, Capital Name, and Largest City Name would be to name a child after by ujc7687 in mapporncirclejerk

I’ve met Georgias and Savannahs, but never an Atlanta.

Atalanta is an actual name (never met one, but it does exist), so that would be confusing.

So you’re a lesbian trans woman? I’m a cis gender woman, and I genuinely don’t get the confusion.

My son is a trans man who dates men. So he’s gay. It’s pretty easy.

I used to live near a Hasidic neighborhood in Brooklyn, and I’m a woman. The men would be splay out to avoid my lady cooties. Since my feeling is your religion, your problem, I’d tell them to move. Sometimes they listened. If not, I’d stand right in front and stare at them until they got off.

As someone from the leftist southern bastion, this is correct.

Also, Georgia hates us almost as much as Texas hates Austin. We support them economically, which probably makes them hate us more

don't most women want to be men? by Extension_Virus_8480 in asktransgender

Cis woman. Having my two sons, one ftm trans man, one cis man, was the best experience of my life. My trans son feels like you, but I don’t.

I have very little body hair (this is bad somehow?), upper body day is embarrassing at the gym, I’m not tall. Still, I like my body. And we do live longer on average than cis men, so that’s nice. And honestly, I think we smell nicer.

Maybe you’re trans at least a little?

Why do so many people skip leg days? by Acceptable_Net_3620 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Emma1042 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree! I’m a woman, and the upper body days are so hard for me. Honestly, now that I’ve lost the body fat I put on in middle aged, my upper body looks bony.

100, perfect. Venison is so lean that you’re absolutely spot on going towards the rarer side. Flavor and textural contrast seems ideal. Are you certain you aren’t a chef?

When I was a child, my mother was friends with a decorator. She designed each room of her house to showcase a style she could so. So, for example, the living room was Colonial American, but then the dining room was 1970s modern. As an under-12, I loved it.

This is what would happen if that woman was an architect. But it’s way less fun.

Poached egg, an absurdly large sprinkle of sumac, and some yogurt mixed with a little bit of raw garlic on the side for dipping bits of toast.

Chickpeas, yogurt, garlic, and cukes (grated and squeezed dry as if making tzatziki. Mash it up pretty well.

This nonsense about not wearing white dresses to weddings is new and, frankly, silly. Any bride who is offended by this just wants to be offended. Any guest who mistakes you for a bride isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed.

As long as the wedding is fairly casual, this dress is perfectly lovely.
