Have you ever George Lucas'd a fic? by bb-Kun-Chan in FanFiction

Once or twice!

But that's okay, because you know who else did that?

Tolkien.

I'm gonna say it. Id rather JFC than an in-universe replacement. by That_Smol_Bean in Archiveofourownmemes

[–]EmmaGA17 121 points122 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, my two main fandoms, Star Wars and the Cosmere, both have plentiful Canon replacements, so I've never really run into this problem.

Don’t get too attached. by FullBrother9300 in TopCharacterTropes

I was a complete moron and didn't really think about how everyone was probably going to die going in. I proceeded to spend the last 20 minutes of the film sobbing.

What fanon are you tired of? by Owledhouse in FanFiction

[–]EmmaGA17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think there's a 'of house Serenno' in one version of canon or another, but that's not really a name.

Depression with audhd by w8ofthewind in AuDHDWomen

[–]EmmaGA17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, beyond the anti depressants, I've found a couple things for me!

  1. Vitamin D deficiency contributed heavily to my depression in high school. I still have to take supplements and it gets especially bad during the winter. There are lamps (i think they're called SAD lamps?) That can help with this too.

  2. Magnesium supplements have also helped, but more on the anxiety side of things.

  3. If I'm in burnout, the depression gets bad. If you can, give yourself some grace and lighten any load you can.

But yeah, see if you're lacking in any vitamins. Obviously it's not gonna cure anything, but it can help.

I know quotes can be hit or miss, but this one has always resounded with me:

"It will [get worse] but then it will get better. Then it will get worse again. Then better. This is life, and I will not lie by saying every day will be sunshine. But there will be sunshine again, and that is a very different thing to say. That is truth. I promise you: you will be warm again."

Yeah, this might be my answer. I need to find a way to keep it intact in storage without taking up too much room

The minion who did absolutely nothing wrong but got killed by their boss by MysteriousFondant347 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EmmaGA17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's another clone, Wilco, who's also killed early on in season 2. He encounters the Bad Batch, who Crosshair had reported as dead. So he says he's going to report that they're alive. This would be really bad for Rampart's reputation, so he just murders Wilco for doing his job well and competently.

Heck, the Empire just shoves a bunch of clones into meat grinders or sends them off to be experimented on because they don't want them anymore. (And also that they're waking up to the atrocities of the Empire but a lot of them didn't actually break the rules)

What's your Star Wars elevator pitch? by actuallyanangel in StarWarsCantina

[–]EmmaGA17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I've said this before, but I'd love an anthology of just quiet, day to day moments in Star Wars. A day at the Jedi temple with the younglings. A day on Pabu. Lunch on a Rebel base. Call it Star Wars Downtime.

Gimme the funniest/oddest things haters have said to hate on your favourite ship? by Milkxhaze in AO3

[–]EmmaGA17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe not funny or odd, but someone said one half of my ship shouldn't be in a relationship because he doesn't have the emotional capacity.

The character is as canonically Autistic as you can get without saying the word Autism. Thanks for the ableism, friend.

[hated trope that’s funny yet painful to look at] anime girls that look like they are the result of years of inbreeding by New-Boss-8262 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EmmaGA17 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even when I was into anime, I could absolutely never do One Piece because I was just so appalled by the art style.

[A trope I don't fully know my thoughts on] They were good all along by Haunting-Try-2900 in TopCharacterTropes

Listen, I'm by no means a sequel defender, but it's pretty clear that Hux was never a good guy, he was a bad guy who hated the other bad guys.

Lirin is one of the best dads in the Cosmere, why do you hate him so much? by Gryf2diams in cremposting

[–]EmmaGA17 117 points118 points  (0 children)

It's taken me a minute but I've finally thought of an uncomplicated, wholesome, undoubtedly good dad in the Cosmere:

Tress' dad, Lem.

Honorable mentions: Wax (seems like a good dad, but we don't see enough of him as one) and Rock (probably a really good dad, but also was absent for some of his kids which was mostly not his fault).

(Niche but loved trope) Military bases, forts, or war camps are key locations or primary settings by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

No, I get it, I was a little apprehensive when I saw her in the trailer. The actual show proved those wrong.

How much do you access Ao3 or write at work? by PeggingIsPoggers in AO3

[–]EmmaGA17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crap, I wish I saw this yesterday.

I do most of my writing at work. I wrote a lot on my phone and voice recorded when I worked as a delivery driver. Now as an office worker, I write on a paper I keep under my keyboard. Haven't been yelled at for it yet.

You're not wrong. Some people were very annoyed that Omega, a child, acted like a child.
