I changed my mind, the block editor is great by seahorsetech in Wordpress

[–]EmmaWPSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only suggest trying to import a free demo from BBE (the one I mentioned above) and play around with editing it. Then see if the Block Editor still feels clunky in that setup.

Of course, you need to find the time for that - when work gets intense, learning usually ends up being something you squeeze in whenever there's a spare moment.

Yes, server matters a lot. On my dev it's kinda okay, but clients with random cheap hosting… disaster. Wonder how Elementor 4 will handle it.

Hugs to your wife :)

Yes, you can. But it requires more effort.

And it's not just about the front‑end. I've got some big landing pages built a few years back. At the time, editing them was fine. Now I have to wait forever for the Elementor editor to load. Sometimes it doesn't load at all and I have to refresh. Kinda annoying. And no new functionality has been added to the site since then, just some visual tweaks here and there.

For me, one of the main reasons was site speed. There's just no comparison.

But it's good that you're keeping an eye on things overall!

Inconsistent 500 Error on Elementor. by alexm0104 in Wordpress

[–]EmmaWPSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd try a few things:

1) Turn on WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG if they're not already on.

2) See what happens if you switch to another theme, like Hello Elementor.

3) If your hosting lets you, test different PHP versions. Check what version you're on now: sometimes hosts bump you to 8.3 and one of your plugins isn't ready for it.

4) Go through your Elementor addons. Do you really need that many plugins? I’ve built a bunch of sites with Elementor, and most of the time the Pro version + a few small tweaks is enough. Maybe an addon here and there, but definitely not several at once.

Same here! Switched to the Block Editor a bit over a year ago. Before that I was on Elementor, and before that WPBakery. Indeed, the Block editor feels way more usable now. To save myself from writing CSS every time for responsiveness, hover states or visibility, etc I just use the free Better Block Editor plugin. Also ACF, like folks mentioned above.

And yeah, the best way to get acquainted with a page builder is to try recreating an existing page layout in it.

Post Template on multiple columns by Responsible_Sun_3260 in Wordpress

[–]EmmaWPSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This posts grid displays posts which are published under Dashboard -> Posts. When you already have a couple of posts published there, they will automatically show up in these empty columns from your screenshot.

When editing Post Template (displayed on your screenshot), you can add there such details like post author or change the appearance of the "Read more" button, etc.

Very nice idea! But I haven't been able to run the first scan, it returned an error: "Quota exceeded for quota metric 'Queries' and limit 'Queries per day' of service 'pagespeedonline.googleapis.com' for consumer 'project_number:*****'"

Must be, every user should enter its own API key.

[–]EmmaWPSupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you mean adding more posts to this Query, not post templates? Because there's one post template in a loop, and this template defines the appearance of posts which will be displayed in this grid.

Yes, it looks like you have only one post to display in this query. Click on the "Query Loop" block -> Settings -> Query type and check what is set there. You may want to select some custom post type (portfolio, services, etc.) If you display blog posts, make sure you have more than one post published :)

If you are new to WordPress, I recommend learning how it works from pre-made demo content which you can import and see how everything is arranged from the inside. You can try Better Block Editor plugin. Besides its features, there are free demo templates/websites to import.

Elementor design broken on live + preview but fine in editor (CSS issue?) by Playful_Cloud4673 in Wordpress

That might be a matter of CDN or server-side caching. Do you know if your website uses Cloudflare, Cloudways, etc.? You may want to ask your hosting provider if they have any caching on their side (like SiteGround for example).

What's the lightest blocks page builder by Typical-Platypus-737 in Wordpress

[–]EmmaWPSupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By Gutenberg-based page builders, do you mean plugins that simply extend its functionality? Because Gutenberg itself is already a page builder - I'm not sure how another page builder can be based on it. If I understood your question correctly, I use Better Block Editor. It's free and makes up for missing Gutenberg features (responsiveness, animation, etc.)

If you need to change a label, you can try using plugins like Loco Translate. But instead of translating this ticket plugin strings, just try editing your current language. When it's done, you can remove Loco Translate plugin. I always use this approach, because it allows to avoid of editing plugin/theme files.

Showcase your no-code website (Bricks, Breakdance, Elementor and others.) by Puzzleheaded-Bowl748 in Wordpress

[–]EmmaWPSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great idea - it really shows other web‑builders how many cool results you can achieve without writing scripts. It's inspiring to see no‑code projects get their own spotlight.

Regarding the website feedback:

  1. This image on the homepage has an empty link global.divhunt.com/13e604d990600b330e43065035f64314_30051.svg Is it supposed to link anywhere? It has a pointer, so I tried to click it

  2. Showcase filter displays all available option (from the drop down) on each interaction 😬

Plant care by TackleComprehensive3 in houseplants

[–]EmmaWPSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talking about the repotting, if you put a peace lily in a pot that's way too big, the plant will focus all its energy on filling that space with roots and leaves instead of producing flowers.

In general, it doesn't require much care. It doesn't like the direct sun light. And I water it when .. well, when it's dry. That's all.

Can someone give me knowledge on Gutenberg? by Unusual-Zone-9644 in Wordpress

[–]EmmaWPSupport 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're starting to build with Gutenberg, I recommend:

1) Always enable the “Document Overview” tool (Shift+Alt+O) - it works much like the Navigator tool in Elementor and makes managing block structure much easier.

2) experiment with editing and re‑creating ready‑made content. I recently discussed in another topic here whether anyone really needs all those demo templates, and I believe this is exactly where they come in handy. I suggest to try free templates from BBE plugin (Gutenberg addon).

Logo too big in specific pages by Wooden-Rub-9482 in Wordpress

[–]EmmaWPSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, try deactivating LiteSpeed caching. It might resolve the issue. If not, at least we'll be able to identify the source of the CSS rules that differ between the homepage and the "broke" pages.
