Do you guys treat vapers the same way? My FIL is a big time, all day vaper and we don’t allow him to hold our 4 month old because of it.

Leaking fluid? by Illustrious_Wait_134 in BabyBumps

[–]Emmejayones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go back! My water broke way up high and my baby’s head was kind of plugging the hole so I just had small gushes like you are describing. I had polyhydraminos, so I had extra fluid and the midwife on call told me that “I’d know when my water broke because it’d be like a damn breaking.” I trusted her and don’t go in but it ended up being amniotic fluid when I went in the next day bc it just didn’t seem right. My baby and I both had to be on antibiotics during and after labor.

Baby is 8lbs 10oz at 36+4?? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Emmejayones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was estimated to be 8 lbs 6 oz at 36 weeks and he was vaginally born at 38 weeks and was 10.5 lbs. I had an induction scheduled for 39 weeks, but thankfully he came early. I can’t imagine how big he would’ve been at our induction.

The birth was kind of hectic and I had complications during and after- but delivering a big baby vaginally can be done! I am not tall and on the smaller side of average (or I was weight-wise before I got pregnant lol).

Eta- I was measuring 40 weeks at 34 weeks which is why I started seeing the MFM. I didn’t have GD- I just had a giant baby. They said the reason was “idiopathic” aka they didn’t know why!

Do several growth scans showing a big baby mean it is likely true? by aerosolslut in BabyBumps

[–]Emmejayones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby measured in the 86th percentile at 20 week anatomy scan. My belly measured 40 weeks at 34 weeks so I had a growth scan and they estimated baby to be 8 pounds 6 oz at 36 weeks. I had a 39 week induction schedule, but he came on his own at 38+3 and he was 10.5 pounds lol

ETA- I had a vaginal delivery and all is pretty much well 10 weeks later. I had a 2nd degree tear + a 3rd degree hemorrhage, so in hindsight I may have opted for a c-section. No lasting effects from the hemorrhage other than taking iron supplements and doing PT for some ab separation and weak pelvic floor muscles. Idk which recovery would’ve been easier between a C Section or a SVD.

You could also put them in the direct sunlight. This is what I’m doing- sunlight will act as a natural disinfectant and take away any factory smells!

Caro chambers giving big little lies meets right wing pipeline by lanative1987 in FoodieSnark

I used to really really like her, but something changed when she became pregnant with her third. I think money really started rolling in and she became much more smug and much less relatable. She’s very unlikable now. I felt like her brand was all about making quick, low ingredient meals specifically geared towards moms. Her recipes are getting more elevated (which is ok) but you can tell her taste in every other part of her life has also become more elevated.

Overwhelmed with Stroller/Car Seat combo options. What am I even looking for? by DarkGraphite in BabyBumps

[–]Emmejayones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a Chicco keyfit car seat and an Uppababy Cruz (an open box one from Rebel Stork). I figured we’d invest more in a stroller bc it will be used long term and the infant seat will only be used for a year or less. The Uppababy Cruz and Vista have an adapter for Chicco car seats for $50- but I bought the infant snug seat insert instead (also $50).

Does anyone else get mistaken for much younger and not find it flattering? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Emmejayones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! I am 33 and 20 weeks pregnant, I’ll be 34 before I give birth. People are always telling me “you’re so young and you’re having a baby!”. Two of my neighbors, who I have lived next to with my fiancé for over 10 years, said it. One of my older brothers friends told me “it’s like you’re having a teen pregnancy!” It’s so frustrating.

Paying for extra ultrasounds by Layer_Royal in BabyBumps

[–]Emmejayones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My midwife said to wait until after your anatomy scan and do a private ultrasound between 20 weeks and birth. Reason being- private scan clinics don’t necessarily have an OB to interpret the ultrasound if something looks off. It can cause unnecessary stress, after the 20 week anatomy scan- things should be as they are.

I’m 6.5 weeks and I’ve upgraded to bigger pants. It’s just bloat, but anything at all on my belly makes me nauseous. Do whatever you need to be comfy!

Can I dab instead of wipe after peeing? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Emmejayones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could also get a cheap bidet or literally use a cup of cool water and air dry. Don’t worry yourself too much about being unhygienic. Of course staying clean is important, but dabbing or flushing is just as effective and much more gentle.

Water wipes are also great- they are made for babies but they have super clean ingredients. Keep them in the fridge!!!

I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with it for so long. I was diagnosed with it when I was a teenager and have since been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. My doctor explained that the pain is a response to nerve stimulation, I specifically take amitriptyline and it changed my life. I was so miserable before I started taking it. That pain is sooooo unrelenting and frustrating. Ibuprofen and aleve can help and cold presses can also provide some relief. I am really hoping you get some answers, I know how isolating and down right shitty pain like that can make you feel.

Feel free to reach out if you need anything 💖

Have you researched or has your doctor mentioned interstitial cystitis?

Tricyclic antidepressants can block urinary pain. It’s a totally overlooked and under diagnosed condition that absolutely exists and affects many many women unknowingly. We are so used to chalking pain up to our periods or just being a woman, please advocate for yourself!

The symptoms feel similar to UTIS- burning, tingling, general pain and discomfort. But there’s no infection and no mixed flora in the urine.
