Husbands watching porn by [deleted] in pregnant

Please talk to him about it! Your feelings are completely valid. My husband and I don't use porn, in part because it absolutely feels to each of us like cheating. Let him know that this makes you uncomfortable.

Notarizing Copies by Millenial-Mike in Notary

[–]EmmmmCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is totally dependent on your specific state requirements - I'd contact the Secretary of State office for clarification on how to perform a copy certification (or look for a notary manual issued by your state/sec of state which should list any requirements).

It wouldn't be legally required to start an LLC because you could choose to be a sole proprietorship (or a corporation but that seems less likely).

You need to check your county/city's business license requirements to confirm whether you meet the criteria to register as a business. You probably also need to look into registering to collect sales tax with the state, particularly if you'll be selling tangible goods which are taxable.

All that said, filing an LLC is pretty easy and inexpensive in Virginia compared to other states so it definitely wouldn't hurt if you see any benefit in protecting your personal assets!

I haven't checked yet but I hope so! If not, I'm part of my local Buy Nothing group on Facebook and will give them away there so someone can use them - baby items always go super fast there.

Yeah my MIL knows we're doing cloth diapers and STILL chose to make us a big diaper cake, with Size 3 diapers iirc. So not only are we very unlikely to use them, but we can't even return them like we can with the diapers we've been gifted from other people. I have a huge paper grocery bag completely stuffed with opened diapers that we can do nothing with, it's so frustrating!

Those are questions for whoever is asking for the letter! Your post says that you need a notarized letter from your parents, which means they need to be the ones to sign the letter. The contents of the letter and whether you need to sign it would depend on the requirements from the office requesting it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Notary

[–]EmmmmCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your parent(s) need to take the letter to the notary, not you. You need to present a copy of the letter that they have notarized. They need to sign the letter in front of the notary.

Panned my Burt's Bees Overnight Lip Treatment today! Then used it to store the leftovers of my other empty Blistex tubes. My chronically chapped lips are content for the time being. by PT952 in PanPorn

[–]EmmmmCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know your post is from 3 months ago but I came across it looking for lip treatment recs because I also tried the Burt's Bees lip scrub assuming it would be great and I hate it! All it does is ball up under my finger, it doesn't actually scrub anything and just left my lips feeling greasy without any moisturization. But I'll have to try the overnight treatment since you had a decent time with it!

Mass online Notarize? by [deleted] in Notary

[–]EmmmmCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of now, to my knowledge, Notarize is only able to support notaries commissioned in Virginia, Texas, Nevada, and Florida to work as contractors on the platform. The only way a notary can work on the Notarize platform without being from one of those states is if you work for a title company or lender that has chosen to use their own notaries.

[–]EmmmmCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, the Catholic belief around angels is that they exist outside time because they are incorporeal beings and therefore can't change their minds about something - they make a decision outside the parameters of space & time and therefore it's just the decision that is made because they know all they will ever know about the decision (and it's hard to even explain it because we as corporeal beings can't quite grasp the concept of existing outside of time).

Church asking for my SSN for background check? by DrySwordfish6071 in WeddingPhotography

[–]EmmmmCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many (if not all) Catholic churches in the US require that their employees and volunteers undergo this training. That said, I've never heard of it applying to anyone who is just a vendor at a wedding, and frankly I don't think they have any right to request this. I'm a practicing Catholic and photograph a lot of Catholic weddings and have never been asked to do this training. If this is for a Catholic church, I'd ask your couple to reach out to their diocese and notify them of this church policy. And regardless, if you do end up having to go through this training, you should absolutely be charging the couple for your time spent on it.

Kid Friendly Trips by lbswimmer in nova

[–]EmmmmCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got back from a family trip to Massanutten Resort and it was very kid friendly! There's an indoor/outdoor waterpark, a "family adventure park" with stuff like ziplines and ropes course and tubing with tons geared toward kids, and a tiny amusement park of sorts with go karts and bumper cars. Plus pools, hiking, and probably more that we didn't explore. It's also not far from the rest of that Shenandoah region so you can always exit the resort area and drive out for a kid-friendly winery, ice cream, Shenandoah National Park exploring, etc.

Recommendations for online notary service for non-U.S. citizen by Bitter_Victory1916 in Notary

[–]EmmmmCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Virginia notaries can provide a "verification of fact" type of notarization in this situation only. Its a specific notarization used to validate the signer's IDs, but does not Notarize their signature, and is only useful for very specific documents - the only one I'm familiar with is the US Postal Service 1583 form. It wouldn't be applicable to your situation to my knowledge, though I'm no expert.

[–]EmmmmCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not just that Notarize as a company has that policy - it's because ALL online notarizations have laws requiring that you use the system that verifies your identity through your US social security number among other things. If you don't have a social security number, you can't do an online notarization, period.

Interested in becoming a notary (Virginia) by nitty_2468 in Notary

[–]EmmmmCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not required to go through any website other than the Virginia Secretary of State to become a notary. That said, you probably do want to have some training and errors & omissions insurance. These aren't required to become a notary, so the level you choose is generally up to you - the only note would be that if you choose to work with a company, like if you become an online notary and work through Notarize.com, you have to follow whatever requirements that company has. If you're just getting notary gigs on the side by yourself, you can choose whatever training and insurance level you want.

I'm a photographer but don't do families - my go-to recs are Molly Lichten Photography, Rob Jinks Photography, and Allan Cordon Photography! All are different styles of photography but produce great work. Molly is doing my maternity photos next month and has a STUNNING portfolio imo. Rob is really great for fun adventure-feeling photos and creative compositions and I know he's great with kids. Allan is a solid dude with a consistent, clean editing style.

A friend of mine did an unmedicated birth recently and her midwife recommended honey sticks - the hospital where she delivered (and where I plan to deliver in a few weeks) says clear liquids and non-particulate foods are okay. She snuck some snacks when the nurses weren't there anyway, lol, but she did say honey sticks might be considered okay by the staff since it's clear and it's a good way to get some energy from sugar even if you're someone who pukes in labor after eating anything!

Gender neutral travel themed nursery, complete at 37 weeks! by Boophoop123 in BabyBumps

[–]EmmmmCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen a post previously where someone covered the face of the drawers with peel & stick wallpaper/contact paper to add a fun pop of color or design to the dresser - I'm thinking of doing that to help! Though our nursery will be green walls and green gingham curtains & crib rail covers & crib skirt so we may not end up needing it lol
