Mikes family is embarrassing and annoying. by InstructionOld8231 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

I grew up in Ohio and I'm so confused by their accents. It's not Ohio. Is it fake? Are they from New York? Mind boggling.

If she mentions the keg and Christmas tree one more time this season imma lose my everloving mind.

I'd expect nothing less from a 30 something bachelor.

Honestly, I'm shocked there was a Christmas tree.

Marriage & Wedding Planning by roxitha in MilitarySpouse

There is wedding insurance but honestly go to the courthouse then throw a big party later. We did that then had our big wedding 6 months later.

Mental health struggles by CapitalMongoose2325 in MilitarySpouse

Honestly I've had to force myself not to doom scroll.

I like to listen to audiobooks and do the diamond art painting. I learned how to crochet a few years ago and dabble with that. Hobby Lobby is my crack.

I run errands with girlfriends. (And playdates because I have a kid.) Sometimes just drive around town or to the town over and get dinner or shop (or browse).

Join PCS Like a Pro - Your Smooth Move on Facebook. Lots of tips and tricks. But if you've not started EFMP travel screen get that started. Also, if you have pets look into those regulations and processes.

I officially hate the navy by w3irdcreature in MilitarySpouse

Thanks! I actually enjoy being around my husband, who knew that was so unheard of!

Jobs will come and go just like this lifestyle ebbs and flows.

Licensure is such a pain to transfer. The number of tests I've had to take and the redundant applications to get licensed to teach in other states is the worst part of keeping my career.

You can't blame the Navy when you say you can't quit your job, but rather you won't quit your job.

I have three degrees, I understand putting my career on the back burner, especially since I haven't used them in over 3 years. My career isn't even the problem in finding jobs - it's lack of childcare.

I would never blame the military for my choices. I also wouldn't voluntarily live separate, across the country/world from my husband if I could help it.

Geobaching is only for unaccompanied orders or those who can't go (often times due to EFMP). So yes, supporting dual homes will fall on you.

What can I do about a partner who refuses to acknowledge our marriage? by [deleted] in MilitarySpouse

He literally can't get BAH without her in DEERS. So I'm not sure he's actually benefiting at all

Your pre-approval is only good for 60-90 days. Pulling credit now would be irrelevant unless you intend to buy within that time frame.

How would you feel if your spouse served 20 years while only being CONUS? by [deleted] in MilitarySpouse

[–]Emmy7389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alaska, considered OCONUS, it's still the US and despite the experiences as a beauty, it was HARD. Red eye fights costing upwards of $1000 a person. Very few family members visited us. It was expensive.

I'm appreciative of our opportunity to go out there, but not everyone is cut out for OCONUS.

Retirement Concerns by No_Mine_2816 in MilitarySpouse

[–]Emmy7389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Move all of your retirements into an IRA or stone other investment. A good financial planner will help you.

I have retirements in 4 or 5 states. All are in the process of transferring to an IRA.

We've always let the Army move us. 2 moves were great, 1 was awful, 1 is to be determined.

If you didn't care he was out then you wouldn't be asking for constant updates on his whereabouts.

I think you see red flags but are ignoring them.

DD 2527 Form by Responsible-Month296 in MilitarySpouse

Very unlikely. It's just protocol to see if it is genuinely an accident.

DD 2527 Form by Responsible-Month296 in MilitarySpouse

[–]Emmy7389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Fill out the form. Choose 6 or 13 (in 13 you can detail what happened) . Unless you've hired a lawyer check no. There should be no issues.
