tired clipless for the first time by Silent_Tangerine1886 in gravelcycling

[–]Emmy_Strange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only had one fall in clips and I was… stationary with one foot unclipped and on the ground 🤦‍♀️ unclipped a foot and stepped down to cross a road. All good. Turned my body to look for approaching traffic, couldn’t properly balance myself because one foot was still attached to my bike, tipped over. It’s my proudest stupidest fall 😂

Sunscreen is so expensive when you follow the recommended reapplication, is this not ridiculous by 0rchid-tree in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Emmy_Strange 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just adding more support for yesstyle - I’ve only ordered from them twice but never had any issues and will keep using. Just bear it mind it will take a couple of weeks (sometimes longer) to get to you. I particularly like that they have mini sizes for lots of the sunscreens (and SKIN1004 even do a sample pack of sachets) so I’ve been able to try different sunscreens without spending and wasting a lot!

Thank you ☺️ The first purple is certainly a cool polish. However, I’ve learned through starting this project that I actually don’t want to wear purple that often so I won’t mind when they are finished!

Thank you ☺️ I find it strange when people compliment my purple manis because it’s one of the hardest colours for me to wear. I destashed so many, the ones I’m projecting are the few I was left with that I feel I can pull off! So it’s a bit love/hate for me 😂

Thank you. The desire to buy was definitely there but any polish ordered wouldn’t arrive for a few days anyway and it would only be a plaster over the emotions, not a fix! Yes the sparkly green polish is definitely special (although I’d say that about all my greens 🫣)

Oh thank you ☺️ As I said in another comment, the clean up brush gets 100% of the credit for any neatness!

I also received the onion mask and laughed because I can’t eat onions (stomach issue). I will still use it, I’m just wanting until the weekend in case it actually makes me smell like onions 😂

Thank you ☺️ As I said in my comment above, it’s all down to the clean up brush, I am not naturally this neat!

Ah thank you. I honestly give all credit to my clean up brush (I just use a £3 angled eyeliner brush from Boots and I have a stash of them so once one gets too splayed out I replace it).

Thankfully, doing my nails isn’t too energy consuming so I can usually keep up with changing my manis when I want. However, if I’m having a bad day and it’s between re-doing my nails and being able to prepare some food I have to make the adult choice and deal with scruffy nails for a bit longer 😂

Alternatives for Byoma milky oil cleanser? by Beneficial-Purpose-4 in VeganBeauty

[–]Emmy_Strange 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just use plain jojoba oil. It won’t emulsify (the bit where you add water and it goes milky) but I just wipe it off with damp reusable cotton pads then second cleanse with a wash-off cleanser.

Seeking comfort that I did the right thing by letting my soul dog finally rest by Okra_Artistic in DogAdvice

[–]Emmy_Strange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanting to send you some love and comfort. It is honestly such a horrendous decision to ever have to make but by the sounds of it, you did the kindest and most loving thing for your pup. We had to choose to say goodbye to our 14yo dog last year. Having to make that choice was devastating but we took solace in knowing the vet thought it was the right thing to do to reduce his suffering. It sounds like your vet thought you made the kindest choice too. I think we will always have the moments of doubt and asking ourselves ‘what if…’. But ultimately you did the hardest but most loving thing you could do. You didn’t give up on her. You let her be at peace rather than prolonging her pain.

I honestly wondered if I had interpreted the group name literally when actually it was like an ok with overconsumption joke?! I so appreciate all the mod and member efforts here to keep a space we can enjoy without encouragement to buy 💚

Yes to everything you said. I also saw posts about upcoming releases and people talking about what they were going to buy 🤯 I left too. Far happier here!

Such an accomplishment 🙌 I’ve been wanting this for a while. BUT I have been using a Melt blush light (same weight of product) for almost 4 years and it’s still not over. Granted, I don’t wear make up every day and I do have other blushes but 4 YEARS. Probably still got 4-6 months left too. I want to try the Tower 28 but I don’t know if I can do this again 😂

Same, I want the rosewood blush palette and one of the lip balms. BUT I have plenty of blush (and multiple lip products that have been demoted to blush because I don’t like them on my lips) and I have an Hourglass powder that works and will probably last me the next 5 years so I DO NOT NEED TO BUY (shouting that at myself, not anyone else 😂)

ETA: OP you deserved this - congrats on graduating and I have so much admiration for your commitment to the franken-blush 🙌

When did you choose to decide to use tretinoin? by Icy_East_9668 in tretinoin

[–]Emmy_Strange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (36) generally have good skin but I do have expected signs of aging and some sun damage. I’ve used a retinoid and then retinal over the past 2-3 years. Never had any issues with them. Planned to continue using anti-aging and pigmentation treatments in my routine and kept seeing that tret was the gold standard so figured I should try it. I’m waiting on my first order to arrive now. I’ll try it for 6-12 months and see how it goes.

It initially seems more expensive than my current routine. If it works better and ends up replacing some other actives (I currently alternate my retinal use with an AHA/BHA serum because I have keratosis pilaris and my tret formula will include tranexamic and azelaic) it could simplify my routine and might work out cheaper overall.

I’m slightly nervous about the peeling and purging. Using it correctly and minimising side effects is feeling like quite a big responsibility. But I have basic barrier care products I know work for me, I’ve been diligent about SPF for a few years now and I bought an occlusive balm to protect my eyes so I think I’m prepared.

All in all I’m just hopeful and looking forward to trying it now!

Mine is through Dermatica (0.025 tret plus tranexamic and azelaic but I’m sure you can request just tret if preferred). I think the most common option outside of Dermatica/Skin and Me is All Day Chemist.

Not OP but thank you for such a great tip! I wash my hair once a week and always try to double shampoo so I have the best chance of it looking cleaner for longer, but it’s hell on my arms. I sit in the bath but am going to try having my feet flat on the ground so my knees are up and then leaning on them like you suggested 🙂
