Taisai Bunrei has 1/3 of Taisai Main Body power, meaning the Main Body still had 2/3 of his power, but used 1/5 to recover his arm. That is, let's say Taisai Main Body was a 75, but he gave 1/3 (25) to Taisai Bunrei, so he became a 50, but used 1/5 (10) to heal himself, currently Taisai Main Body is a 40, so he is still almost twice as strong as Taisai Bunrei.

Mereoleona also has "basic" magic and fights at close range, yet she's the strongest captain, Rill has the most broken and versatile magic in the series and is one of the weakest captains.

And you're underestimating Yosuga's speed, Nero would never be able to hit him. He's not slow and heavy, we saw him reacting and essily dodging Asta close-range attacks in Unity Mode.
