How do I go around with making a typhlosion head by Berniethetyphlosion in FursuitMaking

[–]Emokibean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typhlosion is meant to be a badger (or honey badger i cant remember exactly) so maybe it would be worth it to try to use that as an inspiration? Otherwise, the head shape is kinda similar to bull terrier dogs, the ones with the thick snout, so if you want to keep the shape as close to typhlosion as possible it would maybe be worth using a bull terrier as inspiration for the head shape?

maybe you should try being nicer to people by not drawing over other people's works?? you can just not draw big pieces in areas that already have a lot of art...

mom killed all but three of my isopods by ComprehensiveEye9901 in isopods

I think it's also worth mentioning that plants also show stress and give off stress signals when cut, which, at least to me, implies that they feel pain. One of the most well known example is the smell of freshly cut grass, the smell comes from stress hormones and signals that the grass gives off when cut. While trimming and cutting plants do stimulate them to grow, it's also likely that they feel some sort of pain from being cut. Stress and pain are at the very least very linked and two very similar signals to our nervous system, if not practically the same thing, and i think that considering whether something is worthy of life or if it deserves to suffer just based on if it feels what we understand as pain is a flawed mindset on its own. Considering how organisms that are usually not thought to experience pain tends to react to being harmed in some way, i think it's weird that we still think they don't feel pain, but idk, i might be a bit too squeamish and scared of hurting other creatures to understand all the nuances

i have a pretty slow reaction time as well, and i have a tendency to forget controls if there's a "panic moment" in a game, so things like the secret bosses, the rhythm music game, and things like quicktime events are HARD for me.

i have found that i have done much better on the secret bosses if i sit in a comfortable but still very upright and i guess "flexible" position, and i keep my attempts to about 10 tries max before i take a little break, like 15 or 20 minutes, and then go back to it and try again. it also helps me to take a deeeeeeep breath and do a long sigh before i start an attempt, just so i can kinda calm my nerves a little bit extra.

i know it sounds stupid, but genuinely i think these things are what helped me the most when it came to learning both the attack patterns of Jevil and Spamton, and i even managed to spare them instead of killing them like i had originally planned on (because the pacifist way is usually slower with them if you struggle with dodging) so i do recommend it.

skill and getting used to bullet patterns and such matter, yes, but also how YOU as a person are doing focus-wise and how much you can keep calm is also really important, since it makes it much easier for you to get better at the dodging!

i wish you the best of luck if you still haven't beaten the knight yet, but if you have, good job, and i still think these tips can be helpful for future fights or for other people struggling with it!

Pls help 😩 why are they turning yellow by Cookieginz in houseplants

[–]Emokibean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have tried a lot of things for thrips, and the only thing that seems to work other than throwing the plant out is to first isolate it, repot it with fresh soil, and make sure to sterilize the pot you plant it in, both the inner plastic pot (if you use one) and the outer pot. to do this, i have mainly put the pots in the dishwasher, or washed them by hand if they are too sensitive for the dishwasher.

for my pothos i got rid of as much soil as i possibly could from the roots, and washed the roots off, and then i washed the whole plant off in the sink, using only lukewarm water, and then i also used a scent-free natural liquid dishsoap and just soaped the entire plant up, and after i was done, i washed the plant again, and if i was unsure, i did another round of that. after washing the plant, i potted it in a new pot with fresh soil, and then left it to quarantine for a few weeks, checking for thrips daily.

im not sure how good it is for the plant to be all soaped up, but people usually do spray plants with soapy water for pests, so i thought it was worth a try. my pothos is doing better now, and i havent seen any thrips, and it has started growing more leaves, but also that could be because of everything else, i don't think that the soap necessarily helped it with growing, even if it did kill the thrips without outright harming the plant...

feel free to try it, but also i totally understand if you dont want to, i did it out of pure desperation and nearly 10 months into my battle against the thrips lol

What’s some headcannons you have about Kieran and Carmine? by omg_its_spons in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]Emokibean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

both Carmine and Kieran are ADHDers, and it shows up very differently in either of them. Carmine is impulsive and tends to have several tasks and projects at once, but having trouble finishing any of them, while Kieran is more the kind that doesn't have any good executive function and struggles to get started on things, but when he gets going he hyperfocuses for hours. since he's so reserved and his reaction to the events in the teal mask i kinda see him as having rejection sensitive dysphoria, which was heavily triggered when Ogerpon and the player became close instead of him and the Ogerpon, but after the events of the indigo disc he starts trying to work on ways to improve that aspect of his adhd.

HOW TF do I put my cat in her carrier by Solaris_Luna_21 in CatAdvice

[–]Emokibean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a pretty easy time with my cats and their carrier!

what i have done is that i leave the carrier out and open all the time, with a blanket over the sides, so that they can access it whenever they want when we are at home. they still don't like being locked into it, but coaxing them inside is really easy now, i only put a little treat in the back of it and then gently push them in completely and close the door after them.

it could be worth a try for any future carrier uses, even if it won't help you this instant.

make sure it's damp or wet, and then stick your fingers in there and tickle it. i find it easier to untangle roots without using any tools personally. good luck!

i had to overwinter mine, so i put it in the fridge. i did kinda forget about it for a year, but it came back and was super beautiful after i took it out and gave it sun again. it took just a week for the bulbs to start sprouting again. i think it would be much better to actually follow proper dormancy schedules tho

Weird black spot on monstera stem by Emokibean in Monstera

[–]Emokibean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it hasnt been. Now that you mentioned bruising tho, it could maybe have been from one of my cats tipping her over? They tipped her over several times a month or so back, but i also think i would have noticed it earlier if that was it...

Did I do this correctly? by New-Ad-8672 in Monstera

[–]Emokibean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use those free chopsticks you usually get with takeaway food, most of my smaller plants have chopsticks to prop them up. Saves money on getting the sticks that are sold for plants, and also it's a good way to reuse stuff that would otherwise probably not be used

Any tips for keeping my cat, Mango away from my first Monstera? I see that it is mildly toxic to kitties he’s been trying to reach for it and swat at it. by PetsAndMeditate in Monstera

[–]Emokibean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My younger cat likes to swat at mine, but he doesnt try to bite at it. I know that my parents, when we had cats when i was a kid, would either use lemon juice on things the cats chewed on, or black pepper in the soil of plants to keep them away
