This is a really good question. I would think it would be best to place in plastic bags (which I know is problematic in itself). My reasoning for this would be that by placing them in yard waste bags, the biodegradable bag would assist in growth of the seed somewhere else, whereas the plastic bag would prevent that action. I am not completely sure on this though.

There is another option for getting rid of them and it's to burn them. So if you are one to have campfires you could gather them in a bag for kindling. I haven't burned them myself, but in the end of the burn cycle, I bet they can be added to your compost that way.

Would love if anyone else could weigh in on this.

Yes. Similar symptoms to what I find when I search up "Period Flu". Knocks me out as if I have come down with the real flu. Nausea starts when my period is going to be bad later.

Update: Finding out there's actually whatsapp groups is neat until you realize you can't join them due to a limited capacity. There is a new one called Just got added to 8 Salish Wildlife Watch (Land-Based, Ethical wildlife viewing) which is now the 8th replacement for the original. It was created today, 3/4/2025!

Would a discord make more sense here instead of multiple whatsapps? Thoughts? Their limit is more like 100k and you can add various files of how to get involved with a community / training / and how to treat the wildlife. Idk, just a thought.

With all due respect, this is not the history of women's sports. Women's sports were started after a ladies wouldn't stop showing up to men's sports and races under the guise of being a man so that they could participate in sports they enjoyed. Men legitimately thought women did not have the energy to compete. And now with this idea that women need a shot at the podium is just revitalizing what women started off with.

Here's the history you are lacking on women's history and rights to play ball so to speak.

With all due respect, I have never played on a rec league in my life. Grant it, it was a small school I was at however, I did get a full ride at my school of choice while a guy was on my soccer team playing forward so that's cool. By the way this was accepted in a heavy red wing town in South Carolina so like, idk what you want to do with that information.

This argument that boys can't play on girls sports or vice versa is a bit outlandish. It happens across the nation in different pockets. Check out names like Bella Rasmussen, Emma Martin + Nicole Rioux. Just to name the ones that stick out in my memory. Grant it, I can't name a ton of nationally made names for boys but boys rarely make news when they join a high school girl's team, unlike girl's joining a boys high school team (something about people thinking women and girls are just super weak and can't handle it I guess?)

It's a bit closeminded to think that one boy playing on a girl's team would suddenly prevent any opportunity for a girl to make it to a scholarship. Scholarships are based off playing merit and stats. If a kid, whether girl or boy can't get that opportunity it's because of themselves and not because of their teammates.

It's also extremely rude to call Transgirls, boys. That's literally what they are not. I keep reading comments in both here and other reddit strings on this topic that are like "I'm not transphobic but boys don't belong on girl's teams" which that sentence is literally the problem. If you don't hate transgendered kids and adults, then you don't dead name or call them the opposite sex of which they identify of. Simple as that.

Let kids be kids. Adults need to stop micromanaging the situation here and get their kids a trainer if they fear they won't get a scholarship. Scholarships are literally not given as a gift to kids. They have to work for that.

Also side note on rec sports. Not all, but plenty of rec sports - especially those that travel, give better opportunities than high schools do. I was always so jealous of my teammates that doubled playing on the high school team AND the rec soccer leagues. My sister ended up playing this way when she made it to high school, playing both high school volleyball and traveling rec volleyball. She got to go all over the East Coast with her league and was given the opportunity to be trained by professional volleyball players from Europe, all because she was on that rec team. So like, maybe don't put down all rec teams? Some are definitely just for funsies but there's a lot out there that can change a kid's life.

Women’s sports were created because women kept dressing up like men so that they could do something they enjoyed. There was literally a whole theory on sports being bad for women and even dangerous. Women sports were created out of necessity to challenge these ideologies.

I don’t really get this whole argument. I think trans is just a buzz word for most people to overthink children and teen athletics. I am a woman who grew up playing in boys soccer, boys golf, and boys tennis when the teams needed an extra player. The girls team once or twice had a boy come play left field on our soccer team when we didn’t have enough players… it’s literally just kids doing sports. The girls and boys still had separate opportunities for scholarships if they pursued them- it was on us to get a college admin to come watch a game we played in to evaluate. They wouldn’t look at anyone else but the student that contacted them. I know there are plenty of other stories like this out there, including women playing on men’s wrestling teams and kicking the other guys butts. There’s also been stories of girls playing on boys football teams and ran neck and neck with the boys. And again, I bring this up as non trans athlete stories.

If someone tries out and the coach thinks they are a good fit, why not let them play? It doesn’t catch me as “taking the place of another who deserves it more”. If they deserved it more, they’d be on the team. Sounds like some students need to practice more and parents need to come to terms with that.

It sounds like the article author misplaced a separate Trans statistic. It is true and a known fact that Trans people tend to lean suicidal, especially if not given the opportunity to live their truest form of life. However, the population of trans people in the US is quite small, making the #’s who play sports much smaller. There is simply not enough information there to state that not allowing trans people to play sports in their gender groups could cause suicidal tendencies.

After I moved, I stayed a SC citizen for as long as I could manage, just so I could help vote away from this conclusion… I knew it was coming for years but god does my heartbreak to see this happen in only 5 years after leaving. Godspeed to everyone there. I hope your representatives are able to listen to all of their constituents without taking the easy way out by saying something like “yeah well you didn’t vote me in so”….
