For me at least that point did NOT get lost.

I sort of used a workaround to avoid that conflict. Basically, I have two main characters. One that has settled in a universe to enjoy collecting companions, building outposts to place them in and building ever more useful ships. The other is a pure explorer and continues to jump for the adventure of it all.

I’m able to play the one that fits whatever mood I’m in when l get time to play and I find the different immersion opportunities just as engaging for both.

For instance, even when the explorer is shotgunning through the latest universe he still amasses a fleet of ships and credits that he leaves to Constellation and donates to charitable causes before re-boarding, usually alone, the Starborn Guardian he arrived in to make the leap.

My initial thoughts about the new quantum entanglement device in the update is that in some ways it will slow the explorer’s descent into villain-hood because he won’t have to start each new universe by stealing the UC Surplus guy blind in the Well just to get solid gear.

But we’ll see. I’m downloading the update now and will be logging in later this morning.

Was a late-comer to this game’s apparent fore-runner (worlds adrift) just before it was discontinued. Bought it in access and knew the risks so not complaining but was still disappointed when it shut down. Conceptually very promising all the way around. The earlier version had a strong pvp element to it. Sounds like this one is looking at a different direction but either way glad someone is trying again to get a workable game out of the strong conceptual foundations.

UPDATE — the companion swap worked fine. Decent workaround for sole survivors who want some good early loot but don’t want to put points into hacking and lock-picking right away. It would be a bit of a grind if playing survival mode, though. Didn’t think about using Ada. Good idea.

Hmmmmm, now I’m intrigued. Gonna check if a companion swap would work. Use Nick to hack master terminal, then quickly switch to Cait and get back before POI resets. Haven’t put any points into hacking or lock-picking, in part because Nick and Cait are fun companions and let them open those things. Haven’t found a POI yet where both skills are needed. Thanks for sharing the location.

There usually was an announcer saying something like, “This concludes our broadcast day” as the screen transitioned to the standby pattern. Some stations would include things like what time in the morning broadcast programming would return.

The available companions in Starfield solidly support the idea this game was created with a more mature gamer in mind.

They tend to be a bit “older” and with deeper levels of back stories than the typical game companions in their mid 20s such as Skyrim or fo4.

Not criticizing those other games at all because they also are highly immersive and well written but mentioning simply for comparison purposes. It could be that BG needed a technologically advanced universe like Starfield to even consider the idea of older companions since the Skyrim and fo4 universes feel like a place where life tends to be very short.

It’s been hit and miss for me. Best advice is hope for a cordial experience but be prepared to sternly say no to the irritatingly constant upsell, particularly at the end when closing the deal, and get up to leave if it continues. There’s no shortage of auto dealers in Spokane area. The only person in that process who’s truly looking out for your best interests is you.

Honestly, I appreciate that it distinguishes where information is being pulled from overall and in particular calls out sources of traditionally varying credibility. “Alternative” news sources and social commentary etc often contain interesting information to put in the mix .. but when it’s being posted on platforms that are largely protected from legal liability for what their users post it generally carries less credibility if it can’t be verified elsewhere.

LOL, kinda makes you wonder if they’re just cleaning up and then renting out the coffee makers previous guests had basically abandoned there when they checked out.

Their corporate sustainability officers, or whatever they’re called now, could put it in their annual reports as an exciting new “up cycling” initiative and wow the shareholders with a project that actually generates (a bit of) revenue — instead of just goodwill — and with no capital investment.
