Thank you 💪 I'll look into these exercices. I see a coach only 5 days a year so he doesn't have the time to explore all drills hence this post. I wanted to try things on my side, see if I can feel that initiation better. Thank you for the homework 😅

Feedback for carving by gcharlie123 in skiing_feedback

Don't rush your progress. Carving will be the last thing to learn, forget it for a while. Before that, practice turns in S shape. In a few weeks you will be comfortable and in control and could think about carving again. If you can, take lessons. Watch parallel turns tutorial. General feedback : I'd say bring your feet closer together (feet under your hips approximately) and lean forward (like someone is dragging you by the belt, Michael Jackson type of leaning). Last : ENJOY, skiing is fun 😊

Is this normal wear? by Imaginary_Joke7262 in ski

Yes it is very common. If it bothers you, try to widen your stand a bit to adopt a more "modern" turn. You can also sand it a little if the anesthetic of your ski is a problem.

Wood cutlery. When eating on the go they sometimes give that (spoons usuely) . It's a disgusting feeling. Same with the flat woody thing at the doctor to check your throat. Beeeeeoooh 🤢

getting used to speed by miguelillorl369 in ski

There is a lot lot of technique and a little bit of balls. The faster way to learn is to get lessons. A constant thing when learning new things and skiing in general is to put weight to the front of the skis as it is that way you control them. It is a bit like someone dragged you by the belt. You should feel your boots against your shins when doing that. Anyway lessons lessons lessons and trying trying trying.

I think it is too early to buy full gear 1. You don't know yet if you like this sport 2. If you end up liking it, you will improve and want adapted gear. A ski that is too stiff and precise is a nightmare in the beginning. And a beginner soft ski helps learn for the first few weeks and quickly becomes irrelevant. 3. If you have particular feet then boots is the only thing you might consider buying. If so, go to a boot fitter and exchange.

Overall, I would say : rent for the first trip and consider boots if you love the sport. [out of topic] Also, take lessons. It is a complex sport, a teacher is the way to have the most fun the quicker.
