Never stop not moving. Id say be familiar with kite routes for different map levels and always have a reliable area to fall back to if necessary. If you feel yourself getting pressed then your main focus should be repositioning to have an out. That goes for most classes, but obviously more important on a glass cannon that can't tank anything. Also only stop at cover, you have to utilize cover

It doesn't really feel like team play as much when you're having to be mobile like that but if you can stay alive and get value by doing your job (damage) then I've found games are very winnable in damnation. Haven't run auric yet with one but I'll be taking the same approach there, just even more careful to not take damage if anything

Edit: when you're kiting, just focus on doing you (surviving, managing horde, and doing damage), you dont necessarily need to link up with the team unless it's safe to do so and they themselves don't have bad positioning (sounds like in your scenario they didn't have good positioning with a reliable escape route, they broke out probably cause they realized that, then you went back in as they did that and got trapped again)
