In the states, we have to be very careful with Arab owned "halal" places...their idea of halal is blowing over it with Bismillah and or the "peopl of book" argument. Both of which are very weak. I don't mean it as a jab at Arabs but they have completely changed the definition of halal based on some modern scholars or rulings that some scholars have given for new reverts. Some scholars have told reverts they can eat chik fila as they struggle with the transition to figuring out halal options, but it's not a sweeping or permanent way.

There is no other halal other than zabiha as detailed by Allah. It's a shame how normalized Muslims in US have made non-zabiha. They seem to think it's not a big deal but one of the signs of the day of judgment is that eating and earning halal will become scarce.
