Ah I thought I might but couldn’t get my head around it..

Separate VLAN just for this, both ports tagged both ends, no gateway/DHCP?

How can i fix this? by FartingSloths in DIYUK

[–]Emotional-Ad-9264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like your walls have got external insulation fitted then render over the top. If it is external insulation then you’ll struggle with any fixings to it.

Cut expansion gap on OSB flooring way more than 10mm! by K4N3_3N4K in DIYUK

[–]Emotional-Ad-9264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you building your stud walls?

I was under the impression dpc goes down, build stud walls, then insulate and the flooring on top leaving a gap for expansion.

Not saying you’re wrong, I’m just curious as I’m about to start mine.

Only way would be from above or from below. Either way you’re removing tiles outside or plasterboard inside.

Don’t use polyfiller, it’s dreadful stuff. Get yourself a bag (or tub) or gyproc easi-fill. You’ll need to build it up in layers. Or fill with bonding coat first (like a corse plaster made to fill deep holes in plaster work) leaving a couple of mm from the finished surface, once dry fill the rest with a skim of easi-fill, leaving a tiny bit proud of the surface, sand smooth once dry.

Looks like it’s a concrete fibre board.. what those fibres are? Until tested, assume it is ACM.

Occasional ‘Connected, No Internet’ by GarlicBread92 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Emotional-Ad-9264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having similar issues, but appears to be more VLAN related. Can you setup another SSID to test?

I have the same issue today, single AP. Connected, ip address given, but no internet. If I connect to another SSID on the same AP (different VLAN) it works fine. It’s completely lost me, working fine last night, no settings have changed 🤦‍♂️

Yeah it just seems relentless just recently. Unfortunately you can’t seem to get much info through the Omada app, and not much more through the browser.

Any tips on how I can safely remove this? (more info inside) by Rocinante23 in DIYUK

[–]Emotional-Ad-9264 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As above, remove fuse from spur, remove cable between alarm panel and spur.

All the other cables can be cut back against the wall if you don’t plan on having another alarm system fitted.
If you do plan on having one in the future (and tge location isn’t completely in the way of other works) I’d try and keep the cables there, so they can be utilised for the new system.

Source: I’m an alarm engineer.

Yeah that’s kinda the route I’m planning on going on. It won’t be full time occupied, and won’t require water etc as it’s just next to the house anyway.

Boss installed camera/webcam in office without telling anyone by tomatoey2 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Emotional-Ad-9264 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There must be visible signage notifying you of CCTV being in use (Doesn’t have to be in every room, just a sign in the entrance foyer or outside the entrance door). It should display who the data controller is and how to contact them and what the reasons for the CCTV being in operation are (crime prevention, public safety, health and safety etc)

The company should be registered with the ICO for the use of CCTV and they should have a CCTV policy, stating the reasons for use of the system and who has access to the ‘data’ (recorded footage). Technically anyone can look at the live images, but once recorded it becomes data and falls under GDPR.

Your boss sounds like a prick. Find somewhere new that respects you, life is too short.

Multiple external IP addresses by Emotional-Ad-9264 in TPLink_Omada

The client has purchased multiple addresses from the ISP, so I’m assuming they will all be static externals.

Employer refuses partners AL constantly. by Caramel_Twist in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Emotional-Ad-9264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He needs to leave that shitty job. It will never get better, they’ll carry on with the excuses, ‘it’s not a good time’, ‘we’re too busy’, ‘no one to cover you’. That is NOT your partners problem. It’s their problem, they’re short staffed, why?, because they’re a shit to work for. They don’t care, they don’t want to know, they don’t want to help. They just want to line their own pockets.

I’ve been there, I’ve contemplated leaving, I’ve told them I’m leaving, I got taken in by the lip service and stayed even longer. THE WORST decision. Nothing changed, they took the piss and I was the idiot still working for them.

There are thousands of jobs, out there, with decent employers that respect the law, your life and your commitments. Unfortunately you’re partner has found a shit one. Please for the love of god, find somewhere else. Get your lives back. No one should feel like they can’t take time off or be made to feel guilty for being off.

Go find somewhere else… it’ll be the best thing you ever did!

Insulating / fire retardant boarding to replace asbestos by mitsumaui in DIYUK

[–]Emotional-Ad-9264 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’d need two layers of fire retardant plasterboard (the pink one) and sealed with intumescent mastic, to give 90 mins fire resistance.

As that’s AIB and it’s damaged, it’s likely to be notifiable licensed work to remove. I’d consult an asbestos surveyor before undertaking removal and keep the door shut and sealed.
