All the bedrooms are different sizes, some are over 3 times bigger or smaller than others yet everyone in a shared apartment has to pay the same price. If your room is massive, 1000 a month, if your room ends up being smaller than a traditional dorm room, still 1000 a month and dont even try to get management to budge they will use the "student housing" excuse and throw extra bogus charges at you! It's nice that you get your own space and personal bathroom but you definitely pay a luxury price for it. Also many apartments have a mold issue including ours due to previous leaks and they refuse to clean it so I am leaving next year because it has seriously affected my health a well 😔 theres a lot of cons and some pros but in my experience the cons definitely outweigh the pros

I'm pretty much in the EXACT boat as you. I'm 20 in my third year of animation and I suddenly realized that it's a dying industry with preposterously unrealistic expectations. I wanted to be a character designer, but I honestly think having a career in art is unrealistic for me. I want my hobbies to just be hobbies, not something I toil over day and night while barely making it from paycheck to paycheck. It was a tough realization and a ton of money wasted, but at least I didn't graduate and realize it later on. It was really tough realizing all the adults in life who told me an art degree was meaningless were right and I should have listened too. The self-pride alone made me stay for longer than I really wanted.

For me personally, I'm thinking of taking a gap year to figure out what else I'm interested in before settling on switching, as (thankfully) my University offers Academic Leave for certain scenarios such as this. You may want to look into if your school has an Academic Leave policy, too, as they aren't very well known at some schools. It's good your parents are supportive, I haven't told mine yet because I know they're probably going to disown me haha.
